Audience immediately makes up their minds as soon as the orator starts the speech. It is also important to clearly introduce the topic and purpose of the speech. An introduction should inform audience about what the speech is all about so that the interest of audience is developed. Another important thing an orator should know is how to choose a topic. A topic is probably the most important thing in public speaking. A topic should be chosen keeping in mind the audience and situation in which the speech is given.
A brief summary of main points should also be included in the introduction of the speech. Also in the introduction, an orator should build credibility so that the audience is attentive during the speech. In the body of speech, it is essential to have clear and relevant main points and these main points should be supported with credible sources. This is the backbone of any speech because this is where the orator lays down his or her central argument. In the body of the speech, an orator reaches out to the audience and garners support for the arguments he or she is making.
This is only possible if credible sources are used to back the arguments presented in the body of speech. Use of examples and evidence is also a very important part of the body of a speech. It is essential that a good public speaker includes examples to explain his or her point of view to the audience. Examples and evidence also build up the interest of audience in the speech. Evidence can make point of view of a person credible and this affects the overall effectiveness of the speech. In the conclusion of speech, a summary of all main points should be discussed.
