The rhetoric is very rich in inspiration since it challenges an individual to venture into new fields in the pursuit of life’s goals and happiness.

The Moving Argumentative Technique in the Rhetoric

Keller’s argumentative technique is not only moving and compelling but also complex. Her argument is tripartite, comprising the claim, the grounds for the claim, and the warrant.

The claim is that life is not meaningful when bereft of risk-taking. The ground supporting the claim is that security is inexistent. The second ground that she advances is that since this security does not exist in nature, even humanity does not wholly experience it. Interestingly, the grounds form a complex layer, in that the first ground lays the foundation for the second one.

The warrant in Keller’s argument is that the failure to take risks in life is very dangerous since it stunts personal progress and achievements. The warrant is also seemingly supported by a backing (statement). Keller supports the warrant in the standpoint she takes to the effect that eschewing the danger (of uncertainty) is not safer than being risk-savvy.

Conclusion

Concerning the strong foundation that has been laid down in the ground, the claim is not only validated but also strengthened. There is no need to wallow in self-delusional complicity thinking that it is a haven, while absolute security is a myth that only stunts progress
