The person gave a gap of 7 years after understanding a little bit of reading and writing; and, when he started again he had to make efforts all over again. But after reading this textbook, he grabbed what he had forgotten and now he thinks that he will be able to cover up very soon.

            The bottom line is that practice makes a man perfect. Many people, whose native language is not English, are very good English readers and writers. This is because they put hard work into the initial stages and practice much. The narrator gave a huge gap in between his practice due to which he totally forgot reading and writing once he had learned. However, since he is ambitious enough, he will be able to catch up very soon. The key is to keep practicing writing and keep reading so that the punctuation, grammar, idea production, and other rules stay in practice.
