?Irshad Ahmad Academia-Research.Com Final Reflection December 08, Final Reflection Thanks for the joyous journey of my year-long English it bestowed upon me the ways and means using which I can now express myself with more vigor. Humans always consider themselves more intellectual and learned even if they lack the basic information about a specific subject unless they come across the vast field of knowledge and experience. Here they find a nursery of human intellect watered by the best guides of the time. Same happened to be the case with me. I always thought myself best in reading, understanding and then writing different academic pieces. I thought I could elaborate things with a deeper perspective. I thought each and every explanation I made through my words in written was final and there needed no expansion. I therefore always emphasized upon my thesis to be the final. I was however wrong. Today when I have completed my one-year long course in English, I hereby confess that I had no legal grounds behind my claim of being the best. I was just an elementary student of writing. I have completed my course and in the silence of evening standing by the edge of my home-garden, I have to pay thanks to my teachers who corrected my errors and invoked in me the zeal to search out for befitting words while writing. During the introduction of my paper, I had usually no idea that first impression always proves to be the last impression to the reader. I remember that I did not take care for my introductory remarks in my assignment of May 11, 2013 when I used “hypothesis” instead of “thesis” which my tutor rejected at once. I was, though in hidden words, told to pay maximum attention to the selection of words. I noticed that I had de-tracked my reader by de-tracking the introduction of my paper. I wrote: “The hypothesis quotes that increase in women education has led to increase in their employment currently and in future” (Writer’s Letter). In my assignment of September 24, 2013, the introduction has improved to some extent. It has no major error. Though it had grammatical errors, the text adequately describes the purpose of the paper (Reader Response Essay). The body of a certain paper forms the brain of it. The body must therefore be compact covering all the necessary information about the subject. This is what I came to know after I submitted different assignments to my teacher. In the Writer’s Letter, I was told that providing information in the body of the paper is a sensitive thing to do and deliberate provision of false information is the academic crime. I included “John”, “Sir Alton” and” Charlie” amongst the characters which were never there in the novel. This was something rash and irresponsible on my part. But what I learned was my resolve not to commit such crimes again and the next of my papers proves that I presented solid information which was up to the satisfaction. I was able to introduce my inner belief in the paper and to my pleasure, the tutor rewarded me with applause when I wrote: “Through my socialization, I was made to believe in the almighty God who gives life and thus no human intervention would prolong or shorten the life span of humans unless God does it”. I was encouraged I must be critical while explaining different aspects of things. Thus I learned that for the best work, one must try not to conceal any information nor provide false data instead be critical and open-hearted. Lot to pay thanks to my teachers; they produced in me the zeal to write better. Due to their timely and again guidance, my phrases got much better than they used to be in the past. In fact my expressions went improving with the continuous attention of my teachers. The same is evident in my academic writings where my errors lessened with every next assignment. I was able to produce in me the capability to shape my ideas and views into an excellent learning piece. I could not imagine I would ever be able to exploit beautiful sentences in support of my view. Earlier I thought that writing something was just the expression of one’s idea; today I sense that I can establish an essay garden full of fascinating flowers of words arranged in alluring compositional style. I can build my own world of feelings to be expressed by my words. I learned how to narrate events in an enthralling manner which not only satisfy the requirements of the academic piece but would also be enjoyable to the reader. In the Writer’s Letter, where there was something leading astray from the introduction, the next assignments had a clear vision inside the introduction. In the Writer’s Letter, where there were false information and the ugliness of the situation, the assignments that followed were better organized in the form of information, vision, critical review and monopoly of the subject. I was surprised to discover inside me a scholar of high degrees when I wrote: “The three relationships include: intimacy, passion and commitment…. Intimacy refers to feelings of closeness and connectedness leading to the people sharing a bond. This is the kind of relationship felt mostly between parents and their children…..Passion is characterized by romance, physical attractiveness, less or no connection at all and above all sexual consummation. This is the kind of relationship people have with those they have affairs with…. the commitment type of relationship which leads to long term love and based strongly on mutual love and absolute strength in that love. This is the relationship experienced by most husbands and wives (Critical Presentation by AIYAO CHEN and XIAOMAN JI). There is an excellent explanation of different kinds of relationships based on the inside inter-warmth of humans. Before the course, my major concern was that how to express my viewpoints effectively. Today I feel comfortable as I have discovered numerous ways of effective writing with many techniques of expressing the ideas. In the start, I had problems with my grammar (Writer’s Letter) which I have now overcome to a greater extent (Reader Response Essay & Critical Presentation by AIYAO CHEN and XIAOMAN JI). I am better organized in my thoughts. Similarly I learned to be disciplined enough i.e. to obey the time-limits regularly otherwise I may lose half of my charm? as I did in Writer’s Letter. I tried revising my life-style and since the Writer’s Letter, I have been able to submit my work well in time. I noticed that writing is but a simple art which to achieve I am now on my way to the destination. I have a conclusion that writing is an easy job provided it is done with skills and the established rules. Thus my English course has made me able to discover in me my capabilities which were hidden before the course. Looking at my one-year past with my English Course, I feel that the course helped me in discovering newer aspects of things; I was told that honesty will always pay me with rewards. It was asserted that providing wrong information amounts to dishonesty which will earn embarrassment for me. The straightforward principle not only helped me during my course but will prove to be the guiding star of my life. I understand that my writings have more accuracy and sequence which they lacked before the course. I can therefore assume that I have expanded my knowledge of good writing though I need more concentration. I conclude that though I cannot claim the perfection, the one-year long course has made me able to write good papers. Work Cited Egan, Jennifer. A Visit from the Goon Squad. New York: Alfred A.
