?Presented by Education in United s Introduction Using credible sources in a research is of great significant because it not only improves a student’s research skills but also ensures quality of research work done. A well written research with well cited sources that touch directly the topic in question is more interesting to the reader or the lecturer who administered the assignment. The use of credible sources in a research ensures that the writer only provides the necessary information and avoids instances of plagiarism, which is a serious offence in a research (Howell). With the increasing technology and globalization, internet has become one of the best sources of information on many topics. The topic of discussion is about chemical sunscreens. The selected sources are: 1. Photo allergic Contact Dermatitis Caused by Ultraviolet Filters in Different Sunscreens from the peer-reviewed journal International Journal of Dermatology 2. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) web site. 3. The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) brochure entitled Sunscreen: The Burning Facts. The three sources for my research are credible because they focus more on the topic of discussion and have more than enough information. On the other hand, the sources are trustworthy because a reader can easily get the exact page where the information was gathered. Discussion The first source is about the article that discusses the Photo allergic Contact Dermatitis Caused by Ultraviolet Filters in Different Sunscreens. This is a pearly reviewed journal that provides more information on the effect of photo allergic contact dermatitis that is caused by ultraviolet filters. The source is credible because it provides an effective research on sun screens. In addition, the article presents an original research because it is not an edited journal that makes the information presented lack biases. The article clearly explains the side effects of some chemical sun screens caused by dermatitis and photo contact dermatitis (Collaris & Frank 66-71). A well guided college student always looks for sources that give the original information about the topic of discussion to avoid reputation of information (Eby 44). On the other hand, the following source is credible when it comes to delivering an argument on the benefits of undertaking the selected topic. The article provides an effective argument about the benefits of chemical sunscreens in an effort to insight opposing views. Moreover, the authors, Collaris and Frank, are professors of dermatology who have adequate skills and knowledge when it comes to studying photo effects. Their expertise in the field of dermatology influences every reader to select their publications because they always give credible information. The second source of importance in the discussion of chemical sunscreens is the American Academy of dermatology (AAD) website. The following website provides credible sources that give information about the dangers of chemical sunscreens and their effects on the environment. In order to get quality information on a certain topic, a researcher should look at the most recent publications because they focus not only on the past effects but also on the current issues. The Journals of American Academy of Dermatology have updated information related to global warming and its connection to chemical sunscreens. In addition, the journals give credible information on mitigation measures and diagnosis for the problem (Pride et al 22-33). For example the journal on “Sunscreens: An overview and update” touches on current issues about medical education on preventing chemical sunscreens (Divya & Ratner 748-758). This source is of great significance because it gives the reader some preventive measures in case you face sunscreen effects. The sources on American Academy of Dermatology also provide quality explanation to issues on chemical sunscreens by providing various examples and diagrams for more clarification. A credible source should ensure the researcher clearly understands the concept through employing various tools such as diagrams, examples, illustrations, and practical works (Coleman 11). The American Academy of dermatology sources is good enough in ensuring that you easily make reference to areas of interest because they are well organized from the beginning to the last page. The third and final source that is credible in this research is the environmental protection agency’s (EPA) brochure entitled “Sunscreen: The burning facts”. This source provides trustworthy trio of resources for a research paper on the topic of chemical sunscreens. When researching a certain topic the person needs to know what the topic is all about including how to deal with various facts. The Environmental Protection Agency provides credible information on the dangers of utraviolets with different methods of avoiding their effects. According to the author of the brochure, “Sunscreen: The burning facts” chemical sunscreens have significant negative effects on the body of a person and these rays affect the body slowly without the person realizing (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 2-4). This information would play a vital role in cautioning people against exposing their bodies to strong sunlight especially at this era of global warming. Researchers also believe that a credible source should focus on both the benefits and disadvantages of the topic being discussed. The EPA brochure gives the reader enough details on the advantages of studying chemical sunscreens to the community and the environment in general. In addition, the agency gives a clear warning to people who are ignorant of the environmental effects. The two issues provide the research with more information on how to educate the society on the importance of knowing the universe through its goods and worst. The credibility of this source occurs where the EPA provides situations where such occurrences took place and the adverse effects it created to the society. Conclusion From the above discussion, it can be depicted that only credible sources make a research work worthwhile. It is important to select effective sources that touch on the topic of discussion in order to ensure the research does not go out of topic. In addition, the importance of using credible sources is seen when it comes to doing class assignments because the lecturer might demand to know the exact place where the information was found. Moreover, when selecting an information source it is important you ensure it relates to the topic and fairly recent (Franklin and Matt 3).
