The society offers challenges to cope with the needed measure in determining the balance of resources (Schaefer, 2009). I have experienced various challenges in the attempt to establish a stable form of progress. I have learnt to appreciate the development in the society and the motive granted to the various social constructs within the immediate setting. I have come to learn that the society gives an individual the chance to gain knowledge with the advancement in age. I have developed the opinion that the complicated forms in society are better understood with the experience gained in facing societal challenges. Having raised three children who are currently teenagers, I have learnt to appreciate the value of family principles. I had been raised to value the concept offered in safeguarding family values through providing care and attention to the members within the family setting. These measures have been the changes that have encouraged the formation of the moral law within my family setting. My family has always valued the need to support members through difficult experiences. I believe that I have managed to guide my children to the age where I can easily entrust their care, to my treasured family members. The modern society has been developed to offer opportunities to hardworking individuals in facing the harsh economic crisis. Ever since my divorce in 2007, I have attained alternative options to support my three children. This has been in the quest to articulate the mode of survival. My family has since been lucky to have the moral support from my parents who have been my role models. (TCO 7 & 9) The sociological knowledge has helped me appreciate the various formations within the immediate environment. Since I joined the army four years ago, I have gained the experience to accept the stereotypical behavior developed in a biased system. Life in Afghanistan is different from the American system, and the daily tasks vary in the scale. Furthermore, I had been presented with the challenge of gender disparity with minimal support for women within the army. Through these challenges, the experiences accorded have enabled my understanding of the different setting in lifestyle (Schaefer, 2009). I have also learnt to appreciate the family setting in a multicultural setting and the values believed to drive the ambition to achieve success. Through this socio-autobiography, I have managed to understand my experiences and the need to deliver an effective guidance to the growth of my children. I have managed to gain the incentives into the values that had shaped my existence within my family, and the value of gaining intelligence through advanced education. (TCO 7 &8) I had faced the challenge of a divorce when my eldest child had been only 13 years in 2007. This experience had been a difficult moment with three children who needed the moral and material support. I sought to find the strategy that would be needed in offering uttermost attention and care to my children. I had not been prepared for the experience because I had valued the element of family setting and stable formulation of regulations within a familiar construction. This has since changed with experiences in a new cultural base in Afghanistan with the challenge of hostile engagement. (TCO 8) The army had been the source of support that I had needed to deliver support to my family members. Although the difficulty faced in Afghanistan involves challenges from stereotypical attitude from the natives, I have managed to gain courage from the experiences that I had raising my family. In the Afghanistan setting, there is minimal opportunity and experience realized in women participating in battles. They are charged with the role of offering support to their children and provide the necessities. Women are undermined and offered the stereotypical behavior to be linked to minor roles within the family. However, my family had supported my desire to progress and become an active member of the society. This is the reason why I decided to join the army and prove to myself that I could contribute towards the advancement of another individual’s life. I decided to join the army because it would accord the best measure to develop the bold character, to face the modern societal challenges in ethnic diversities and racial aspect in a multicultural society. (TCO 6 & 7) My station in Fort drum has been marked with significant progress in relations and knowledge of various attitudes among male and females. I have learnt that there is minimal difference between the genders and that females are valued as equal members of the society within the American society as compared to the Afghanistan setting. This disparity is advanced due to the variation in ethnic beliefs and backgrounds of these societies (Schaefer, 2009). The American society has been developed based on the liberation process and a fair constitution that has offered to protect individuals from oppression. Despite this experience, I have felt undermined as a woman within the army with accordance of varied tasks as compared to my male counterparts. I have reflected on my experience with my ex-husband with the challenges that we had faced on the marriage. The experienced has helped me understand the difference in the opinion that we had faced during the marriage. I have learnt that for successful partnership to be achieved, there should be the development of equality and understanding between parties. (TCO 6, 7, 8 & 9) I believe that, through the challenges, my children will become stronger and advance in their education process. My daughter, 18, who is to join college in Florida stays with her grandmother who will guide her through the difficulties as I had been taught. My sons, 16 and 14 years, are with their father in North Carolina will become stronger based on the male dominance and support. Their experience with my family will lead them to realize the need to develop a stable union of partnership and equality within the setting. I have since developed a change of attitude towards the attention and love within a family setting and the need to develop norms based on gender beliefs. (TCO 6, 7 & 9) The development of this socio-autobiography has helped me link my personal experience with the existent norms within the society. I have gained the link to establish a connection between social links and structural formations based on gender roles. These issues have involved social issues in the family setting, gender roles, ethnic beliefs and increased female participation. Through reflecting on the challenges I had in my family and marriage, I have learnt to appreciate compromise and understanding in the quest to uphold a stable formation. I am optimistic that my children are with the right individuals to shape their social development and understanding.
