number: Sex trafficking Sex trafficking is among the modern days forms of slavery, where a commercial sex act is either induced by fraud, or by individuals who are forced into such acts. Sex trafficking is not a new crime, since it has been existing since the beginning of time. Sex trafficking is as old as prostitution and woman exploitation for sexual harassment. Notably, it is believed the duo, prostitution and exploitation of women for sex, are as old as history. The advancement of technology, especially the use of the internet has elevated this form of slavery in that the internet has made it easier to access and locate victims all over the world. This is because; the internet has led to a drastic increase in sex trafficking demand; thus, earning it the second place of being the most exploited form of illicit business globally. Sex trafficking business can well be understood by analyzing some of statistics and facts concerning the same activity. Statistically, there are over 32 million people who are enslaved globally through sex trafficking, and out of this number, 80 percent are into sexual servitude. It is estimated that, in the United States of America, 50 to 75,000 victims are trafficked annually into America for sexual servitude (Watanabe 01). Moreover, is number does not include 100,000 to 300,000 American children who fall victims of forced prostitution in the full glare of the United States’ government and relevant authorities (Kristof 01). The statistics and facts availed indicates that sex trafficking is no longer a minor issue, but rather an issue of concern that states and nations, as well as other concern organizations including united nations, should collaborate towards eradicating it (Bales 63). The human and sex trafficking victims should be well understood and determined, and it should be noted that these victims can be found anywhere and everywhere. However, it would be beneficial to determine who actually a victim of sex is trafficking (Kristof 01). Unfortunately, according to the film “Dreams Die Hard”, many victims do not identify themselves by coming out and saying, “Hey, I am a victim of sex trafficking so, please help me”; thus, it needs one to be perceptive to identify these victims. Human and sex trafficking are activities that occur almost everywhere; however, the majority do not realize their existence. In most cases, organized criminal syndicates lure the victims in the places where they found themselves, and afterwards provide them with some cheap employment under some threatening working conditions (Watanabe 01). In this way, they are being used to benefit other persons. The victims are usually placed in conspicuous sight where they are being abused in unnoticeable manner. That is, the public will never know that people they interact with are victims of either human trafficking or sex trafficking, but is will not be surprising to find them with bruises, lacerations, and cigarette burn among other marks on their legs, stomachs, and backs. Most of these victims work and sleep in brothel, restaurant, hotels or apartments, and the owner charges them levies for anything deemed he/she deems incorrect; thereby, crippling them and controlling them as they so wish. In most cases, the victims of sex trafficking are unable to escape their captors, since they have been mentally manipulated; they have the fear that if they or their family member or members shall be killed if they escape. Thus, to them escaping has never been an option (Bales 78). It worth stating that, people get too busy with their daily errands, and ever now little of the world around them, and with such busy states of life they can never realize that their some people who genuinely need to be helped, rather being removed from bondage of slavery (Kristof 01). In most instances where sex or human trafficking victims have reclaimed freedom, it is through some individuals who noticed and took an interest on something out of the obvious, then got involve, thereafter took action and noticed the public or other relevant institutions; thus, leading to rescue of such victims. Therefore, it is apparent that anybody stands a chance of rescuing (Bales 175) human and sex trafficking victims. The only initiative one should take is to be interactive and social to people around him especially those who are working in hotels, brothels, restaurants, waiters, and bus buys among others who have little job titles. In this way, these victims are identified and through appropriate actions and relating to relevant authorities, they can be helped to have their lives back (Watanabe 01). It vital to note that sex trafficking is not only an issue that affects the united states, but also other parts of the globe with south American countries such as Brazil and other most of the Caribbean nations experiencing the worst went it comes to human and sex trafficking. Nonetheless, human and sex trafficking can be controlled by citizens initiatives, national, and international laws (Bales 118). Sex trafficking is usually promoted by high demand for sex, particular from young children. So the sex trafficking often affects the children. The sex trafficking for children seems to be too high that the captors need to keep their baskets full (Kristof 01). They full maintain their supply through sex trafficking. As many kids are being trafficked for sex into the United States, is the same way the American kids find their ways out of the united states into other countries as victims of sex trafficking. Notably, the white, American kid is a vital commodity for sex outside the territories of the United States, especially where there is none. Statistically, there are about three hundred American kids who go missing every day, and if the media is not reporting about it, it does not mean it is not occurring (Watanabe 01). Therefore, the United States’ government with the help of other relevant organizations should help curb human and sex trafficking both into and outside the United States boarders. The United States government should adopt and effectively support the Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crimes. Additionally, the United Nations should effectively implement its protocols that suppress sexual exploitation and forced labor among other modern days forms of slavery. In this manner, the United States’ kids and kids from other continents and nations shall be free from human and sex trafficking. Moreover, the government should initiate and implement laws that will entirely eradicate prostitution. If the open prostitution, human and sex trafficking, will never end and it will be on the race since the victims will end up in brothels, nightclubs, and pornographic film industries as well as internet sites.
