Bertone states that human trafficking especially of women and girls for sexual exploitation is being taken by many nations as a threat to societal cohesion and national security. The article echoes other similar observations made by other researchers in related fields about the one-sided view or approach being employed by various nations to curb sex trafficking. In essence, the article highlights the plight of current interventionist strategies aimed at combating sex trafficking as being one-sided.

It seeks to shed light on the dual nature of the international politico-economy of the sex trade, which depends on the conventional market dynamics of demand and supply. According to the article, it is arguably more realistic and effective to tackle the predisposing factors of the two sides in the market dynamics. This will effectively facilitate the eradication of the vice at its roots and source. This book strives to increase and improve the understanding of the socio-economic and political context of sex trafficking.

It does this in consideration that an enhanced understanding can further inform strategic intervention and policy discussions in the fight against sex trafficking. The book strives to make clear postulates as to the factors, whether social, economic, or political that promote or diminish sex trafficking. The book creates a viable link between all the predisposing factors to illustrate the relationship that exists between these instigators. The book recommends that interventions and strategies aimed at combating sex trafficking should be a holistic representation of all the elements that are thought to promote sex trafficking.

This is because failing to recognize the role of each element negates the progress made by other effective interventions. This research article was formulated to highlight the efforts being made to combat human trafficking purposely for sexual exploitation. In the study, the researchers evaluated the United States' (US) practices and policies touching multiple sectors. The key emphasis was placed on areas associated with human trafficking including labor migration, prostitution, sexual and reproductive health rights.

This article is aimed at evaluating the attempts made to develop approaches to deter sex trafficking in order to best serve the needs and support the rights of all trafficking victims.
