This project will look into the development of an efficient c clamp that meets the needs of the tool. The process took a lot of investment both in capital and emotional, therefore, we would like to give our greatest appreciation to the course instructor and all the colleagues who unendingly gave me both intellectually and emotional support in the process of the project. The major use of the device is for attaching materials on stage like the holding of speakers, dimmer or the lightning instruments. The construction of new c clamps is by the use of steel and in some cases the use of Aluminum to produce new and efficient products. This project will undertake the sequential stages of developing and making a c clamp that is used for the holding of numerous instruments in place. The project will equally venture into the various aspects of making an efficient clamp. The c clamp usage should be careful enough to ensure that there is no over torque of the bolt that fixes the light to the stand. Poor designing of the bolt and in relation to the tightening of the material will lead to it deepening into the stand, which will compromise the quality of the batten. Progress Report Scope and Purpose The project will involve the use of readily available raw materials for the development of the c clamp that is efficient and effective in the handling of the common daily chores requiring the use of the device. Little research has there in relation to the development of an effective and efficient kind and design of a c clamp. This improved and more efficient device is there since it is able to handle the operations required efficiently. Progress To date, we have identified the points of the c clamp that need improvement to ensure that the device is more effective and meets the needs put upon it with minimal change on the structure of the tool at an affordable rate. Some technical upheavals encountered in the restructuring of the parts as the bore made on the head and the efficient threading which are cumbersome to effect. However, the improvement made the device meet the required standards of the quality products. Additional Work There are two sets of tasks for completion in the coming weeks to ensure the perfection of the device quality. We will ensure that the product is a creation of a model tool that meets the need of the current competitive market and the demanding job descriptions. Expected Results Out of the project, we expect a result of an effective product. The assembly of the device will ensure a better screw head and a more efficient clamping plate. It has a shape like the letter C, however, or a G clamp; because when the screw is added, it looks similar to the uppercase letter G. The clamp is made of cast iron or steel, which majorly acts as the main frame of the device. A c clamp is made of a framework that is similar to letter C and designed to be able to receive an adjustable screw that works as the adjusting device for the degree of the clamping of the wood or material under the grasp. The movement of the screw head towards the grasping plate directly influences and adjusts the gravity of holding materials. This area forms the major part of the c clamp. The project will use the available material within the institution with some purchases from a nearby hardware providing the materials. Most of the materials of use are from steel from the area stores (Davidson, 2000). Problem statement The present types and designs of c clamps that are in the market have to a certain extent failed to meet the requirements and expectations of the users of the device due to various deficiencies within the structure of the device. This project will not major in the correction of one of the deficiencies but on the comprehensive handling and obtaining of solution to most of the issues identified as the deficiencies of the previous versions of the instrument. Detailed analysis of the new approach shown ensure that an explanation and understanding of the present state of the device has an appreciation. The product of this project is to offer a sustainable and efficient solution to the problem of clamping of materials using the c clamp. Proposal Report Project description The project is on the designing and developing an efficient clamp that will solve the issues to do with the failures and unachieved goals of other forms and types of c clamps in the market and in circulation presently. The clamp will be made from steel materials which are durable and do not have the effects of rusting of the materials involved and are more effective in handling of the needs required to handle the objects of use. Needs Analysis The c clamps in the market presently are not efficient and have failed to handle the demand placed upon them in the operations required of them, hence the need to develop a tool that is efficient, affordable and durable to meet the needs and the various purposes of the tool in the versatile and competitive market of the tool. The device has use in industry, theatre for the holding of lighting devices and other light instruments like stands, etc. Benefits The device is more efficient in the handling of materials Minimal force is required to handle and operate the device It is quite affordable to assemble the device The application of the device in the daily industrial and domestic application of the device. Background Field of the Project The project entails development of a c clamp and improvement of the device by cooperation of an efficient screw head to ensure that the device is efficient and able to perform the intended purpose of clamping of various materials in different sectors requiring the clamping of materials. The product f this project will be ensuring the development of a device that does not have deficiencies observed in the previous and related devices of similar purposes or designs. The purpose is by employing and using a more efficient screw head that can perform the intended purposes more efficiently and effectively without compromising the related required levels of grasp and clamping of the materials and woodworks. This design will equally improve the parts of the device to ensure that the rotating parts are made in such an effective manner that they can be manipulated with ease and efficiency without using extra efforts for the operations of the device. Purpose The purpose of the project is to design and develop a c clamp that is efficient and able to solve problems to the c clamps already in circulation presently. The cost of the device should equally be affordable and the durability should be high. Discussion Parts of the device i. Clamp This forms the main body part of the device made from either steel or aluminum. In the case of this project, aluminum material forms the main body part of the instrument. The designing of the part will be such that it sits atop a theatrical batten. ii. Clamp bolt Long threaded always 9/16 inches, the bolt has to have a design of tightening down a pipe, hence fixing and tightening with the pipe. iii. Spigot A metal shaft machined, sitting on the clamp rotating at 360 degrees and usually used in the attaching of the tool to the lamp and other materials. iv. Pan bolt A small bolt passing through the side of the clamp and tightening to the spigot, the main purpose is to prevent the part from rotating or panning. v. Yoke bolt Short bolt that fixes the yoke to the spigot. Facts The television and entertainment industry used to the making of c clamps made specifically for this industry and have a common use in the developing of firm grips in this field. The made clamps are such that they are made with specially designed studs such that they are able to support and function well in holding of the light lightening firm ware of the industry without compromising the architecture. The design should be that the lightning materials can be placed in unusual positions or location with much ease. The legs of materials are always attached together by the c clamps before the final and permanent joinery is made by the fixing materials, i.e., nails and screws. In instances where there are multiplatforms of materials and assemblies, the clamps are used for the joinery especially in the cases of touring or camping where there is the need for quick and effective joints of the materials. Usage The device is used when the screw under it is adjusted such that the pressure under it is exerted enough to hold the material or to release the material under the grip of the device. With the tightening of the screw, it leads to the holding of the material herein held strongly between the screw and the flat surface. Equally, with the loosening of the screw the material under grip gets loose ensuring release from the clamp. The c clamp is an effective tool for the purposes of woodworking, however there is a need for care when working with delicate pieces of wood materials to avoid the breaking and destruction of the wood due to breakages and deformations due to the pressure involved from the binding power of the flat surfaces of the c clamp. The edges of the clamp are always a major cause of indentation of the materials involved and can mar the quality of the wood under the work. For the avoidance of the destruction of the wood under the work there is a need to buffer the use of the clamp by putting two scrap wood between the materials under the use and the surfaces of the clamps. The scrap wood, therefore, comes into direct contact with the surfaces of the clamp hence suffer the marring instead hence minimal damage to the wood itself. The use of the scrap wood as the buffering material is very efficient not only to the avoidance of the destruction of the materials under usage but also allows for the efficient distribution of the force of gripping throughout the wood under work. In the cases where smaller objects are to be gripped there are also deep throated clamps which provide the necessary efficient grip to such materials. Data on the principle of the toggling applied by the clamps The mechanism applies the principle of using the toggling mechanism to ensure that mechanical advantages due to geometrical linkages hence amplification of low operator input force to the operations of the device to ensure that the little force is applied hence the maximum possible force is exerted. The geometrical and mechanical advantage is achieved by ensuring that the over center principal is employed providing a positive clamp thereby preventing the lock from opening up during use or operations of the device. The features in its design make the tool to be effective in its holding of goods role it equally enables the use in the repetitious processes of using the tool by allowing and supporting the easy clearance and offloading of the work pieces like the wood and other forms of timber under the use. The design of the tool such that it has the over centre orientation and dimension in the device is quite essential since it ensures that the device is able to clamp and produce the maximum possible efficiency in relation to the holding of the materials under use. Findings The devices around in supply do not comprehensively meet the needs of the work environment. It device has certain parts which are missing in the sister inventions and thus making the device better suited for the activities that are expected of it compared to the earlier inventions. There are no significant differences between the earlier models and this project. The designing ensure that the device is capable of handling various duties in relation to the designing of the device avoiding destruction of the materials under use from the magnitude of the force exerted by the plates of the device (Allison, 1992). Description and Embodiment The presently developed device under this project will embody the features and characteristics of the past devices, however there is a major shift from the traditional similar devices that perform such actions and purposes. The device specifically will have a c clamp with an arm forming the major frame of the device and the second arm that is on the opposite side connected to one another by a shank between the two parts. The first arm has a plate fixed upon it that acts as the base of holding and resting of the materials to be worked on or to be held by the device. A collar is fixed upon the second arm at an angle that it can be adjusted in relation to the first arm and at an angle that it is relative to the fixing plate and such that when adjusted the effects are efficient to the holding of the material under use on the plates (York, 2004). Under the clamping plate an internal bore is made that is for the holding of the adjusting bolt and it has to be relative to the bolt size to be used. Upon the clamping plate, a clamping rod is pivotally placed upon the device and is used for the fastening of materials upon the clamp. The road head equally has an in cooperated sliding rod bar that is orthogonally fitted upon the entire device especially upon the holding part of the device. For the ease of the manipulation of the screw head, there is the need for ensuring that the sliding bar and the clamping plate placed in a manner that is uniform and properly oriented to ensure that there is a smooth movement of the parts effectively (Lock & Perua, 1999). Due to the improvements in its makeup and other related parts of the device, it will be more efficient and requiring little input force to operate using the tool in handling the duties required. There are improved parts from the clamping plate, the sliding surface and the bolting head having a control surface. The device is also more efficient means of the technical make up due to the technical expertise involved in the makeup of the device. Recommendation This method of making the c clamp should ensure that the modeling and make up put into consideration the following; The c clamp has a connecting shank that connects the two arms, the first arm is at a distance from the second arm, the first arm has a clamping plate, and the second arm has the collar. Threading of the bore that provides a threaded hole for the external clamping rod and ensuring that it is stable enough to enable stability during clamping Should have a sliding crossbar that allows for the uniform sliding of the clamp to adjust the tightening and positioning of the materials under use Provision of the exterior rod head that provides for the external support to the materials and ensure that the tool does not go out of position during operations The drive plug to be threaded to ensure that there is a communication between the floor of the head wall and the second wall References Allison, P.
