Land planning engineering report Site plan map Access Street The access street is a road hierarchy that draws from the main tarmac road into the residential areas and another one to the existing facility. The role of this street is to make the area accessible easily by the residents. It could also play a major role during a disaster management. This could be in an instance of fire of fire; vehicles are able to use this street easily to access the areas. In addition, the ambulances can also use these streets to access patients in the residential areas. For school going children the school buses can use this access road to take the children to and from their homes. Therefore, the access street plays a key role in enabling movement in and out of the residential areas as indicated on the site map. For the house hold waste management the street also plays a very crucial role in enabling collection of waste. Access Place These as indicated are designated points in the access street, which act as collection point. Access pint is the first point that helps one get access to the access street. From the village hub there is an access place, and from each residential areas. Each access point is connected to the access street through a definite access area. This also connects the car pack to the access street. Class pathway There are two class pathways on the site map, one is the class A pathway and the other one is class B pathway. The class A pathway is designated for pedestrians and cyclists. These pathways are located along the main roads and along the access street. The pathways also work as short cuts. Instead of using the Main Street while on foot or cycling, the class A pathways is able to connect through and within the land. The class A pathways are also for safety precaution. Pedestrians use the pathway to avoid interference with the vehicles plying the road or street thus avoiding occurrence of accident. The class B pathways are ways that connects the forest to the recreational areas. Those who love nature or would like to do various body exercises by jogging or running use these paths. The pathways are ideal because they do not have any form of interference by people and they are not usually designated to connect places. However, they help the game reserve and park officers to access the main forest and keep security in the areas. It could also help those who would like to access the natural drainage and the existing facility in the areas. However, these pathways are not neglected. They are serviced with bridges where necessary. Residential Area Living houses are built in this place. It is the main habitat for the people. The houses built are drawn according to the architectural policy of the land. It is in the residential place that other social amenities such as hospital churches, schools, market place could be found depending on the initial plan. This place is ideal for the village hub for the residents to relax and socialize. It could also be fitted with gym for those who would like to keep fit. The population density of this area is definitely dependent on the number of household units that can be put up in the area. Area designated for Revegetation, This area is accessed using class B pathway. There are no tress but grass and shrubs. The area is said to be re-vegetated to prevent possible soil erosion that could arise from natural drainage in the area. This place is also to be used as a recreational park for those nature lovers who may become residents in the area. One can relax and walk along the pathway in this area while enjoying the serenity of the area. Natural Drainage It is a natural drainage due to its topography, which prevents the area from flooding by draining the rainwater away from the residential area. It is connected with bridges to allow access to the other side of the drainage. Bridge The bridge plays a major role in enabling access through the natural drainage. It connects the car park to the area designated for re-vegetation. The bridge also connects two residential areas sections that are completely divided by the natural drainage. The bridge is very useful especially when there is rain and the natural drainage is full. Bus Stop The bus stop is essential for those who would like to take public means of transport because it allows the passengers to have a designated point for waiting. The bus stop is located near the class A pathway access route to the residential areas. Therefore, once the passengers alight from the bus they do not have to take the access street to get to the residential areas but instead use a much shorter pathway in the place. Village Hub This is where the adult resident can find some relaxation away from their houses. Other social amenities available in the village hub comprise of shops and vegetable market. Sewerage This is where the sanitary waste is sediment and treated. It is situated a distance away from the residential areas to avoid possibilities of awful smell that could arise especially during dry seasons. Existing Facility This is the area designated for research or other programs. It will be beneficial to the residents of the site. It could be a power station, which regulates and supplies electricity in the area. Storm water Treatment Facility This is a water service facility that supplies treated and fit for domestic use water to the residents of this area. Inner Traffic Management map Round about, This describes the road junction where traffic moves in one direction around the central island. The roundabouts are safer and prevent cars from crushing. One roundabout is designated in the car park to enable cars entering, leaving, or passing by the car park move safely. There are roundabouts at the terminal of the access street to facilitate the car to turn around back to its former destination safely. Central Median There are two central median located on two main access streets. This is where the road widens and forms a dual carriageway at this point leaving a central lift in between the road. The main purpose is to reduce traffic. Speed Hump with Pedestrian Crossing. This is a designated design that helps to cal traffic especially speeding cars. However, the vehicles are not required to stop at the speed humps. This should not be confused with zebra crossing it is dangerous to use speed humps as zebra crossing. Sewerage Treatment Access Street The access street is used by the traffic in accessing the residential area. It is along this access street that the sewer line is located. This enables easy repair and replacement of the sewer and the general management of the sewer line in accessible manner in case of blockage. Access Place It is through the access place where the septic tanks are located and this helps in the management of blockages. It also helps in the installation of new sewer lines that connects to the main sewer drainage line. Sewerage Treatment Facility and Sewer Lines It is in this facility that all the sanitary waste is drained and treated before being discharged into the natural drainage. This prevents the contamination of water sources and possible spread of water borne diseases. The main sewer line is straight to prevent meandering, which could facilitate blockage. The sewer system is structured in such a way that it is accessible for repair and management. Flood map The topography of this area is slanting towards the residential areas from the upper camp mountain road. The failure by the natural drainage patterns to hold enough water and drain away from the area could lead to flood. In addition, heavy rainfall could burst the bunks of the natural drainage thereby affecting the residential area. Read More
