WSUD incorporates a holistic management strategy that integrates aspects of landscape architecture, urban design, and practice and stormwater management for the achievement of sustainable development goals. This approach regards stormwater as an important resource rather than as waste as it considers all aspects of runoff in the UTS land development area.

It includes the implementation of water quantity and quality controls, maximizing water conservation and reuses while preserving environmental values and enmity within the catchment regions. As UTS works towards the attainment of environmental sustainability standards, Australia together with other countries is similarly starting to embrace the need of using a wide range of modern-day WSTS systems that ensure effective water management. In this project, the issue of stormwater and wastewater management will be explored, and appropriate measures are given for how integrated water management can be achieved.

CHAPTER 1- INTRODUCTION
Project Outline

The Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) Building designed by Melbourne-based architects Denton Corker Marshall has been in use since the start of Semester 2, 2014 (July 28, 2014) (UTS 2014). As a part of UTS’s $1 billion City Campus Master Plan, the largest single facility building of the university provides students and staff of FEIT with a great experience in teaching, learning, and research (UTS 2014). Combining binary screens facade design with the idea of a living lab, the building was also awarded a 5-star Green Star Design rating from the Green Building Council of Australia as 20% of the building’s energy consumption is replaced with green energy generated by a wind turbine, solar panel and solar concentrating thorough (UTS 2014).

This particular report focuses on detailing the operational performance of wastewater and stormwater treatment systems, in terms of the type of system used, how it operates, the cost of maintenance and operation, the efficiency of the system, and in comparison to some leading-edge technologies in the same field on similar sized projects around the world (e.g. Central Park).
The report referred to data from the EFI-Research API website which monitors building 11’s status in real-time, additionally, it consulted relevant engineers and technicians and also carried out other research.  ...Download file to see next pages Read More
