Introduction An embedded system is basically a computer system that is designed to perform a number of functions and it usually has real time computing system constraints incorporated into them. The embedded system is basically comprised of both hardware and software. It is important to note that embedded systems are controlled by one or more processing cores which are usually micro controllers within embedded systems. The programs that are used to run the systems are usually set in a Read Only Memory mode and stored permanently in devices such as ROM devices or flash memory chips. This paper takes an analytical approach at the virtual world and explores the necessity for having a controlled parking space in various environments such as big companies, estates, and apartments. Using this approach, a lot of available ground space used for parking will be saved. Methodology The system that we are supposed to design is a control system for a 23 space car park. We can visualize the parking area as having a single entrance and a single exit and the automatic system should be able to allow vehicles to enter the parking area after verifying that they have the necessary ticket. The system should also be able to record the description of the car and display the information in an LCD display device. The following components will be used in this system: 1. Microcontroller 2. Permanent magnet DC motor 3. LCD display 4. Infrared transmitter 5. Infrared receiver 6. Relay device The general flow of the system will be as shown below: Figure 1: flowchart showing general information flow in the system The Pseudo code for the implementation for the system will be as shown below: void main() { Static int ticket_status=0,ticket_no[2], ent_ticket[i], alarm, ticket_comp, ticket_suc=0 ,i=0,j=0; Init_uC(); UART_init(); while(1){ uCmain(); }} //ticket verification programme Void ticket() { If(ticket_press=1 & ticket_comp=1) {ticket_press=0 ; If(ticket_no[0]==ent_ticket[0]) { if (ticket_no[1]= ent_ticket [1]) { ticket_suc=1; } Void parkingspace() { If(parkingspace_press Read More
