International standards Standards are documented agreements having technical specifications or other fixed conditions to be used time and again as rules, guidelines, or definitions of characteristics, to guarantee that materials, products, processes, and services are proper for their purpose (Mattli et.al, 2). International standards initiate technological, economic, and societal benefits. The bring harmonization of technical specifications of products and services leads to the industry being efficient and removing the barriers to international trade.

Compliance with international standards promotes the reassurance of consumers that the final products are reliable, efficient, and fit for the environment. Global standards create an introduction of products to a broad range of countries (Mattli et.al, 30). The creation of international norms is initiated by responding to the need of the industry and the stakeholders such as the consumer group. The standards are developed by experts who are from different parts of the globe who form the large panel of technical’s who meet to discuss and negotiate the standards. . After the draft has been created, it is shared with ISO members who are asked for the comment and vote on it.

When consensus has arrived on the proposal becomes the international standard, if not it is returned to the technical committee for advanced editing (Henson, 70). In the designing of the products for global consumption, there are some units that the producers should consider in their production, the units have much significant and their roles are: ensuring that readings from an instrument unit is constant with other measurements; determining the accuracy of the instrument readings; establishing of the dependability of the instrument i.e. that it can be trusted (Henson, 80).
