Engineering Engineering is the application of knowledge of such disciplines as science and economics for the designing, construction, analysis, and maintenance of different processes and structures. I chose Civil Engineering as my engineering major. I was influenced by my depth of interest in the field of construction to choosing Civil Engineering to study. Megastructures and projects of infrastructure always fascinated me and I was always been attracted by the latest technologies incorporated for the construction of different kinds of facilities.
I believe that the level of technological advancement of a region is depicted, at the first glance, by the level of the latest construction in it. I have always had an interest in construction. Since my childhood, I used to draw pictures of structures like homes and buildings in MS-Paint. Later, I learned how to draw them on AutoCAD. I have all the interest and the sense of creativity it takes to come up with unique designs and styles of construction, but that is not sufficient unless my structures are structurally safe to live in.
This is what I primarily want to gain knowledge of in Civil Engineering. Once I have gained my degree, I intend to establish my own construction firm through which, I shall take projects and execute them using my knowledge of design and analysis of structures as well as project management. I believe that Civil Engineering can never run out of scope because demolishing and reconstruction have always been an essential part of development nearly all over the world. So I would have plentiful opportunities to work wherever I go.
