Aspiration of pursuing graduate study indicates a person’s level of motivation, strong ambition and dedication towards improving his/ her present position through expanding knowledge base. Though it has been experienced that, some of the students strive to perceive graduate degree for enhancing their social status, from the perspective of students like me, graduate degree is of utmost importance for self advancement and for further enhancing the recognition of self worth. My purpose of obtaining a graduate degree can be alienated in two ways: first, my commitment towards learning and secondly, for the betterment of my financial position by securing a handsome employment opportunity in corporate world. I believe that obtaining a higher degree of education from your esteemed institution will definitely accomplish my agenda to broaden my knowledge horizon, enhance problem solving ability, decision making skills and eventually, make me a more prospective candidate in the corporate world. This in turn will solve my purpose of improving my financial position as well. Besides, as my area of study is Management Information System under Business Administration, requirement will be there to upgrade my technical knowledge and management proficiency through internships before I enter the corporate world. Practical work experience is prerequisite as well so that I can prove myself in every step, once I become a part of the team of professionals. I truly believe that without gaining such required knowledge base and profession experience, my aspiration of having a stable career in one my admired corporate houses, will not be accomplished. I take pride to make my first move towards my ambition of becoming a part of graduate program. Given a chance, I will leave no stone unturned to prove excellence through genuine effort towards the future endeavor. My Interest for Pursuing Graduate Study My wish to pursue a higher study can be communicated through my interest of accomplishing my short term as well as long term goals. At this point of time, getting admission and obtaining a graduate degree from a reputed institution is the most imperative concern for me in order to increase my motivation towards learning and becoming an asset for the institution and for my future workforce. Such aspiration can be further explained in the following discussion. Short Term Goals As discussed earlier, graduate degree is a fiscal decision for most of the students. I am not an exception. However, there are some agendas which I consider to be of similar importance. My first consideration in this arena is the opportunity to enhance in depth knowledge in my subject of preference i.e. my major in Management Information System. I really enjoy studying this paper and will love to acquire more practical and theoretical knowledge on it which is only possible if I get an opportunity to pursue a graduate study. Thorough study of Management Information System in Graduate Program will enable me to understand sociology and psychological order of human behavior, ethical issues related to internet, construct and maintain database for real business, develop computer programs and the map for project management. What excites me more is that the access I will get to the latest technology and lab equipments, an opportunity to gain knowledge from expert professors, explore avenues for research and to connect with the local industries in the time of internship. Besides that, it feels good to be a part the learning environment that your institution provides to all students. Students’ aptitude becomes more prominent in such favorable environment and they become capable of realizing their inner flairs in a better manner. According to me, Graduate study also accelerates the intellectual growth of the students. Constant learning environment, motivation to expertise and measurable rewards highly stimulates cognitive development which is beyond education. So, for overall personality development and for intensification of technical as well as intellectual knowledge, pursuing graduate study in Management Information System is important (“9 Reasons to Pursue a Masters Degree besides the Paycheck”). Long Term Benefits Apart from satisfying the intellectual curiosity and educational needs, long term agendas are also there for pursuing graduate study. The main consideration in this regard is to explore career opportunities which are limited before achieving a graduate degree, especially in this challenging employment scenario. Most of the employers expect an advanced degree while conducting recruitment and selection procedure for their companies. With a graduate degree, a candidate will have an advantage over others with only a bachelor’s degree. Moreover, technical knowledge gained during the course of study gives precedence over normal courses and make them more marketable in the complex job market. From my perspective, a graduate degree will help me to acquire specific skills which will direct me to get a job the right job in corporate world. It will enhance my career options as well. After getting a graduate degree, the avenue for further career growth will also be expanded, be it in educational sector or in corporate world. In education, a graduate degree will pave the way for further studies and it any influence me to go for doctorate where I will be able to continue intensive research work. Another important aspect of pursuing doctorate is the perceived respect associated with the title of PHD, the solely doorway of achieving which is pursuing a degree of graduation. However, before pursuing a further education after graduate study, relevant corporate experience is also important to enhance practical knowledge in real business scenario. This will serve the financial incentive. It is well know phenomenon for all individuals aspiring excellent jobs in corporate that acquiring skills relevant to the job profile during the graduate study enhances the bargaining power while determining remuneration of the candidate as compared to the candidates from general stream. I also expect to have a better paid job after completing my graduation study, considering my present educational background and the refined knowledge, skill and professional approach I will acquire during my graduation days. I believe, flexibility will also increase in the workplace and long term career transition in terms of switching sectors and working on the area of specialization will be smoother after obtaining a graduate degree as the degree provides solid foundation of skill enhancement which is required in real world. Therefore, my future career path highly relies on whether I’ll be able to get an opportunity to pursue a graduate study and enjoy the tangible and intangible benefits derived from the study. Being a girl from a Middle Eastern country of the United States, I am expecting to experience challenges in terms of language barriers, stereotyping and cross-cultural misunderstandings. However, my aspiration of studying Management Information System in your esteemed institution is so strong that I have already prepared myself to encounter all challenges that I will experience. Multicultural misunderstanding is obvious due to differences in words of expression, gestures and social norms. However, I’m ignoring the possibilities of such difficulties as I will also get an opportunity to experience the foreign culture by participating in the regular lifestyle. Language barrier can also be overcome as I will get an opportunity to develop and improve the fluency of my second language. My own heritage and culture will also be explored among peers and professionals. This will enhance the global communication. As the graduation course is expensive and currency difference is also there, I have planned to strive to achieve for all sort of grants and scholarships so that I can manage my own finances. I’m well aware that accomplishing this task will require me to put maximum effort and I’m ready to exploit my potential in order to excel in my studies and to evolve as an asset for the institution. I’m sure that such efforts will further enhance my employment prospects in global job market for my upgraded knowledge, international experience, proficiency in foreign language and command over cross culture communication acquired during graduation study. Probability to secure a good job will also enhanced as I’ll get an opportunity to meet and establish healthy relationship with the professors or professionals I’ll meet throughout my graduation period. Hence, network will be broadening. Every individual will infuse a certain degree of value addition that will further increase my knowledge and real time experience to be shared with the future prospective employers.
