Life for the Sake of Education I have been described by my peers as that individual who will give up their life for the sake of education. While I do not agree with this description, it is factual that I am inherently studious. I have remained determined and true to my quest for knowledge, which is why I have always entertained the idea of pursuing some Major course at UCs. I am greatly interested in a couple of subject areas, but a Business Major seems to be having the loudest voice at the back of my mind. Currently I am in college and my passion for business has never subsided. I have had opportunities to be part and parcel of real life business activities during summer breaks. For example, I have helped my uncle run his garage and car wash business whenever I got the opportunity. He trusted me so much that he often allowed me to manage and keep account of daily revenue that were generated from the business. An interesting bit has always been balancing books of accounts and keeping records of business progress. As a matter of fact, I learnt how to balance accounting books long before I was introduced into the subject in my college. Business Major is a course that would certainly lead me to my ultimate career in as a manager of a globally reputable company. I am fully aware that some of the areas that the course entails are economics study, business administration, concepts of banking and finance, leadership and management, project management as well as human resource management. All these undertakings are critical in running successful business operations. Furthermore, I understand that an opportunity to advance my knowledge in this area will introduce me to modern business software which have currently found global acceptance when it comes to accounting and general book keeping. As I mentioned earlier, I am that individual who has a broad interest in academic pursuits. Law is the other field that I would have really loved to be a part and parcel of. However, since I cannot pursue two courses at ago, I am glad that a Major in Business would give me an opportunity to study business law. Business law is critical as it guides business ethics as well as rules and regulations governing fair business operations. An opportunity to pursue a Business Major at UCs remains my biggest target as at the moment. I fully understand that UCs is one of the best institutions of higher learning with modern learning equipping and resources. Its endeavours in providing students with business knowledge and the highly professional staff is something worth looking forward to. Furthermore, the strategic location of the school as well as cosmopolitan nature of the community gives the likes of me the best chance to interact and socialize with people from all over the globe. Since globalization is the way of the world, I look forward to use the knowledge acquired here to open up my own business entity. Also, from the social links created in this school, I purpose to expand the operations of the business into a global scale. Finally, I purpose to undertake a master’s course in business and use the knowledge acquired in enhancing the economies of my home country. Part 2: Personal Life My name is XXXXX and my country of origin is XXXXXXX. My family and I moved to the United States five years ago following a successful application of a green card. This automatically means that English is my second language. Living in United States has remained to be like a dream because it never occurred to me that one day I will be living in a country widely known for its endless opportunities. I had never stepped outside the borders of my country until that day when my parents announced that we shall be vacating to the United States. My childhood was characterised by some sort of hard life as my parent struggled with their meagre salaries as casual labourers to sustain the family. Though we never went hungry, my schooling both in junior and high school was never a walk in the park. Against all the odds, I worked to ensure that I attended school and emerged at the very top of my class. The experiences I have had throughout my schooling have particularly played a great role in boosting my appetite for a business course. As a junior student back in my country of origin, I was offered an opportunity to lead a group of five other students in coming up with a hypothetical business. We were supposed to run any business activity during a class session and the group with the highest profit margin would be rewarded. I quickly gathered my members and agreed that we shall be selling candies when that opportunity comes. Surprisingly, we emerged the best of and ever since I was nicknamed a CEO. I remained unaware of the meaning of CEO until my high school when I settled on Business Studies as my optional subject of interest. At high school my passion for business were further enhanced as our teacher kept on linking theoretical work with real life experiences. It was at this time that I came to learn of business gurus like Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and Warren Buffet. I wanted to be like them, and as if this was not enough, my CEO tag had persisted on. I am a hard working individual who is always ready to go an extra mile to get tasks assigned to me completed. A recollection of my background is an indispensable reminder that I need to keep track of my progress while at the same time remembers disadvantaged individuals who quest for opportunities similar to mine. Life in a series of stages and each stages and each stage has its own challenges. The most important aspect that I have learned from life is to treasure each and every opportunity I get in life. As at the moment, I really look forward to getting an opportunity for transferring from my current college to the UCs. Hopefully, an opportunity in this institution will boost my knowledge base as well as my professional achievements. Read More
