The Role of Interactive Multimedia in Enhancing Teaching and Learning - Literature review Example

The development of technology has changed the role of the teacher not to only be a content expert but also be a multimedia developer. The infusion of the technology has broadened teaching and learning process and the teaching approach and student’s learning. This has eventually reconstructed regimes of educational contents, developing dynamic ways in the concept of learning.One of the most significant issues that are encountered through out the times is that the lack of the adequate training of the teachers to use multimedia approach in their lesson plans.

It has persuaded the educator’s approach to adjust with the new teaching practices through, preparing contents and delivering materials. Several experts highlights that the technological innovation can enhance the information transmission to students, as it increases attention level and retention of the students. It shall enhance the next generation to get aware with the computer and Internet as the classroom pattern shall be similar (Kovalchick & Dawson, 2004, p. 127).One the major aspect that makes multimedia interactive tool a significant educational element is that it can incorporate multimedia educational content and interactive activities in the classroom.

The key element of the tool is its interactivity, it allows the end user to control and change the content and the flow of the information according to the students and courseware (Kovalchick & Dawson, 2004, p. 127). The students can explore the subject in depth with help of the application. In addition, the learner can study and learn the courseware according to his or her skills and understanding level (Kovalchick & Dawson, 2004, p. 126).This paper studies the role of the interactive multimedia as a tool to enhance effectiveness in the learning and improving educational system through the use of ‘Authorware’ as an instructional tool.

 It highlights the significance of multimedia in the educational practices to establish interactive multimedia learning in the teaching. Its further disuses the strategies for the implementation of multimedia in the educational system to enable educators to become developers of their own content that they can interpret in the classroom through the use of authoring tool in classrooms of Asian countries.
