Human Relations And Organization Behavior Diversity And Culture The personnel in the United States education sector are diverse in consideration of their early backgrounds and culture. This is because the teaching staffs had a different moral, spiritual and physical upbringing. Due to their disparity in cultures and beliefs, they have the following effects on organizational behavior:- Individual level The disparity of culture may result into low self-esteem on the teaching staff hence low performance by the employee. The rules and regulations set aside by the institution may go against a teacher’s culture hence undermining his personal beliefs. The act of imposing rules without considering the cultural diversity on the employee may result into rebellion and absenteeism (Davis, 1989). On the other hand, some behavioral rules imposed in the working environment of some teachers have proved to be beneficial to individual who would have had their personal rights infringed on. The professional relationship between people ensures confidentiality and formality in the service delivery. Group level In the education sector, imposing of rules and regulations that affects the employees’ cultural diversity may have both positive and negative effects to the employees. Organizations behavior monitoring encourages professional relationship between workers hence the teachers are able to have a good teaching environment. This would boost the service delivery of the employees because they are in a good environment. However, it can be argued that for proper working environment in an institution, the teachers have to relate in a free manner. Organizational behavior regulations may hinder such socialization hence interfering with the service delivery to the students. This is because the teachers and lecturers may become unsocial and hence there would be cooperation and teamwork. Organizational level In the United States education system, the cultural diversity affects the organizational level of the teaching institutions. This is because in the planning of strategies in the institution, the cultural diversity of different employees has to be put into consideration (Debra 1996). For example, consultations have to be made between the teachers and the management before new rules is imposed. Performance, attitude &perception The attitude and perception of employees in the education sector plays an important role in the performance of their work. In a psychological view, a positive attitude towards the teaching profession contributes to good service delivery as opposed to those with a negative attitude. The performance, attitude and perception have the following effects:- Individual level The type of work and the work place normally changes change a personal perception and personality. In the case of the teaching profession, the rules and regulations governing the teachers’ code of conduct is enough to change a person’s personality. This is because the rules and regulations of the teacher’s code of conduct in the United States expect teachers to behave in a certain way. Due to this organizational behavior, an individual’s personality drastically changes because he or she is expected to behave in a professional manner. Group level In the United States, the perception and attitude of a group of teachers in an institution may be affected by the organizational behavior. If the rules and regulations have fare terms and conditions, then the teaching staff would be supportive in the service delivery hence good performance. This can be seen in a study carried out in high schools in the New York 2001, where the performance of schools showed significant relationship between the teacher’s attitudes towards teaching However, a negative attitude in the teaching community reduces the effectiveness of the workers hence leading to reduced effective learning. In such institutions, the teachers tend to have be unwilling to teach hence become absent from the workplace (Dwiveldi 1979). Organizational level The performance, attitude and perception play an important role in the organization of an institution. Through analysis the performance of the teaching personnel, the institution can come up with modes of improving on the performance. This can be achieved by improving the working conditions of teachers and involving them in decision making (Gannon 1979). Such acts are useful in changing the perception and attitude of the workers and hence they would be able perform better. Leadership and motivation Leadership is the activity of spearheading a group of people in doing something. In the teaching profession, teachers have to show good leadership skills so that their students can see them as good role models. With good leadership skills, the performance of teachers is enhanced because they are able to guide and direct the young minds in the proper direction. Through proper leadership, they are able to motivate their students to work harder. Leadership and motivation affects the following aspects:- Individual level The teaching profession allows an individual to have good leadership skills. This is because the profession involves exercise of authority over a large number of students. In the work place, the teacher’s code of ethics requires that every teacher should have the proper knowledge and good leadership skills (Corbett 1974). The leadership skills would act as a motivating factor to the students who look up to the teacher as the role model. Hence, the organizational behavior requires that at all times the teacher should be a beneficial individual to himself and the society. The teachers should therefore practice good organization citizenship. Group level Through their motivation to large groups of people, the teachers have influenced the nature of the society. The organizations behavior requirement may require that teachers should play in the motivation of not only the students but also the colleagues in the work place. The rules guiding the work environment ensures that the teachers present good leadership skills among themselves and also motivate themselves. This would result to employee satisfaction hence good performance in the organization. Organizational level Leadership is a key strategy in the success of any organization. The people in charge of the institution should have good leadership skills and motivational skills so as to convince the workers to keep working harder. The organization should ensure that the organizational behavior requirements do not infringe on one’s freedoms of delivery of good leadership skills. Therefore, leadership and motivation ensures good organizational skills. Reference list Corbett, M 1994, Critical cases in organizational behavior, India: Hand mill Palgrave publishers.
