Personal Educational Philosophy Paper Assignment Personal Educational Philosophy Paper Assignment Learning is one of the most important and continuous processes that human beings go through. Learning can be defined as the process through which new knowledge, information, and experiences are acquired. While some people expect that the process of learning can only take place in the classroom setting, it is important to realize that the learning process can take place in any given place and time. Learning does not have to take place in a formal setting. This means that learning can be either formal or informal. In the formal setting, most of the learning takes place in the classroom. The learning is done with the help of teachers. For a teacher to be effective in passing on knowledge and instructions to students, it is important that they are guided by a specific philosophy. This philosophy will guide the teachers in the process of helping the students advance in the learning process. In the process of learning, it is important to realize that learning can take place either consciously or subconsciously. The effect of learning can be seen in the modification of behavior or the skills that one had possessed. Learning, whether conscious or subconscious can be said to be contextual. This means that one does not learn everything all at once. One builds on the knowledge that he had previously learnt, a. what one learns in different situations is also dependent on the knowledge that one already possesses. There are five main categories in which learning can be classified. These include learning being a quantitative increase in the knowledge that one possesses. Learning can also be classified as the storage of information that can be reproduced at a later date. The third classification of learning is that it involves acquiring skills and facts or information that can be used to achieve certain purposes. The classifications also include being able to derive meaning from abstract concepts and interpreting the surroundings in the appropriate way. Education can be defined as the process through which a person learns and acquires information and knowledge. Education takes place through formal learning and informal learning. Formal learning is carried out in institutions, while informal learning takes place through life experiences. In carrying out formal learning, my philosophy is based on the need to assist in settling problems that make implementation of education process difficult. In as much as the problems exist, one of the philosophies that seek to ensure that fairness and justice is brought to education is that students ought to be educated in accordance to their abilities, interests, and capacities. Thus, there are different levels of education that relates to age of individual students and mental capabilities of the same students. Students who cannot perform and qualify from the elementary level are not allowed to proceed to the secondary and the same apply to all the level. This means that in the process of formal education, I seek to ensure that the students are taught the content that is in line with their level of competence and their abilities. It is important for the education process to be encouraged among all members of the society. This is especially important for the younger generations. In the process of formal education, the provision of special education for the students with special needs should also be considered. The curriculum that is followed in the process of education should seek to ensure that it meets the needs of the students. It should also be designed in such a way that it takes into consideration the interests of the students. It is also important that one puts it into consideration the potential problems that may arise in the process of offering education to students and the potential solutions that can be used to overcome the problems anticipated. In understanding the concept of education, it is important to understand schooling. Schooling has to do with the process of passing on instruction in an institutionalized setting. In this setting, instruction takes lace following a planned curriculum. The school is developed with the main purpose of mastering what are known as the scientific inquiry methods the school is also designed to develop the intellectual abilities of the learner. The implementation of the curriculum also takes place in the school. In understanding education, it is also important to understand the term curriculum. The curriculum is therefore the prescriptive course that dictates the content that should be covered in the instructions that the students are to receive from the classroom. The curriculum is derived from the syllabus. The process of formal education begins at an early age. This takes place through the preschools. The process of education then takes place to the level of higher education. The number of years that are spent in the process of education is dependent on the education system that is followed by the particular country. The concept of knowing is hard to define and explain. While knowledge has sometimes been defined as having a collection of information and data, which definition has been found to be unsatisfactory. This is because the distinction between data and information is sometimes unclear. Knowledge has also been defined as having confidence in the information that one possesses based on tradition, instinct, and on strong feelings. This definition of knowledge is also criticized as the concepts of intuition and strong feelings are controversial. If one does not have instinct or strong feeling, is it then to imply that he has a non-traditional way of understanding the knowledge that he has? It is also hard to determine whether there is anything that can be considered true knowledge that us objective and universal (Knight 2008). If knowledge is not universal and is therefore personal, the epistemological consideration in the definitioan and explanation of knowledge is thus overlooked. It is important for people to be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure that they can become successful in their desired field of practice. In the process of equipping the people with these skills, it is important that one takes into account the personal differences that exist between the different students. Such differences should be put into consideration if the required skills are to be successfully imparted in the learners. The existing differences between learners include the mental abilities that each learner has which influences the rate and success at which he can receive and understand instruction. There are several categories of learners which include learners with special needs. The process of education is therefore important as it helps those who go through it to get the necessary skills that are vital for their survival. Education is also important as it helps to instill values in those who go through the process of education. These values are an important in guiding people through their life. The values that are instilled by the process of education vary among different communities. The values also vary depending on the social context. This means that education has to be dynamic so as to serve the purpose of instilling values. In addition to instilling values, education also helps to improve ones’ chances in life. This is because an educated person has better chances of getting gainful employment and making better decisions in life. An educated person is also more likely to make better investment decisions (Knight, 2008). Education is also important as it helps people to gain an understanding of their cultural background and cultural identity. This is because education is a means of distributing the cultural values that exist within the society. In addition, education also helps in the cultivation of moral conduct among the students. This means that education helps prepare the people to become morally upright and responsible citizens (Nodddings, 2010). It is of utmost important that anyone who gets into the field of education with the intention of offering their services to the students to have a definite philosophy. This philosophy is important as it will guide them in the process of offering instructions and instilling values in the students that they teach.
