Running Head: PARENT-COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT PROGRAM Parent Community Involvement Program Number] Parent Community Involvement Program Over 40 years` research has proven that parents` engagement in the education of their children is always been very effective for the success of students. Such parent community involvement programs are far more beneficial and important than other types of educational programs. This paper aims to discuss an ideal parent-community involvement program which has influenced culturally and linguistically diverse communities. California department of education is an organization that supervises public education. This organization aims to provide guidance, support, supervision and teaching sources with material; so that every student can get good education. Various researches have been conducted in order to study educational programs ranging from teachers` training strategies to parents awareness programs. By studying such education related programs it has been observed that all those programs which includes parents involvement in their kids` studies has been proven the most influential ones for the prosperity of children as well as for the success of educational system (Rutherford & Billig, 2010). Researches have shown that education standard has been improved because of the involvement of parents and family in school programs. There are five booming plans that have brought changes at National level in United States specifically in New York and California. Various benefits have been observed because of this program and individuals belonging to education world appreciated parents for their interest in children studies and other activities that can help their kids to learn something innovative. It is considered very important that parents should try to understand the importance of their role in their child`s career and education because they are the only ones whose active participation can bring an incredible change in their children`s life (Rutherford & Billig, 2010). There are certain National Standards for parent community involvement programs which are based on qualitative research and are important for children`s career, parents satisfaction and for the success of educational institution. There are three motives of this standard that includes encouragement of parents and families for their active contribution. Secondly, to provide knowledge about all those influential elements, that can play vital part in such programs and also to give moral and material support to those institutions that aim to raise their standard of education through various strategies and programs (Hurley & Tinajero, 2001). These are some important guidelines for principals and owners of the schools who wish to divert parents` attention towards child`s education through strategic programs. National standard intended to guide those people in very sophisticated manner who administer educational institutes because they have authority to deal with staff members and also they can apply such strategies within district level for parents to grab their attention as much as possible (Riley, Douglas, & Koop, 2004). According to amendments to community-based English tutoring program of California, when everyone plays its part to support learning system with full dedication, then children show positive response towards their studies and they show more interest in every school related activity. Many schools have adopted the program designed by California department of education which includes few basic goals. Their first goal is that they want to break all blocks that restrict parents` involvement. It is emphasized that parents should be made comfortable when they entered in school in order to encourage their spirit. All parents should be kept updated with their child`s academic progress (Hurley & Tinajero, 2001). To make it easier for parents to get information about institute and their kid keep updating websites or practice any other volunteer process that could efficiently help parent to co ordinate with the teachers. Secondly, they consider that some agencies can also play part in it; therefore school should invite foreign agencies to conducted workshops for parents as well as for teachers. If professional agencies are given chance to participate they can help in decision making and also to strengthen teacher parent relationship through philosophical and psychological counseling. In addition, before inviting any agency school should provide awareness about its importance and benefits to teachers and parents so that they can participate in workshops and programs with enthusiasm (Riley, Douglas, & Koop, 2004). Furthermore, annually a meeting should take place at school level in which parents can get answers to their question and teachers can discuss problems related to their child`s academic progress. Parent community involvement program designed by California education system is considered as an ideal one as most of the schools comply it and also, during past 30 years it has been observed that the strategic plans which are proposed by Californian education system have brought revolution in education standards of many institutes and have proven very efficient for parent, children and school staff members. A positive change has been noticed in children`s attitude such as many students started spending many hours within school premises (Hurley & Tinajero, 2001). Support and encouragement from parents and teachers both help students to participate in sport activities as well as great interest have been seen among secondary classes students for science projects and debut competitions. Additionally, another important aspect has been explored to deal with children of single parents. Parent community involvement program encourages efforts of all those parents who are single and tend to show interest in their children`s activities (Education World, 2010). Administration of the school is responsible to manage with such cases and provide best opportunities to those individuals who are either divorced or widow and dealing with all other matters of their kids alone. Opportunity of providing better services to single parents has influenced performances of their kid in very positive manner. Furthermore, as today in schools children come from diverse backgrounds. Children belong to different cultures and also they speak different languages therefore, sometimes, it becomes very difficult to deal with variety of people who expects best academic progress of their kids. In order to run the process to meet the demands of parents, it is compulsory to manage things by considering every child and their guardian separately according to their wishes and expectations. It is a challenge for school administration to satisfy parents and family of their students; and to do this school needs to manage all processes appropriately in professional manner (Education World, 2010). At first place, school should have any objective than school management has to perform all functions in order to achieve the targeted objective. To reinforce the parent-community involvement program in school, all schools should comply the same objective because it has been proved that without teacher parent coordination and parents` participation education standard can never be improved. Objective: “To form a platform of collaboration among parents and teachers to develop clear understanding regarding the curriculum” The objective stated above is considered important for developing parent-community involvement program because parents are needed to be guided properly regarding their important role in child`s academics. Also, professionals such as teachers, foreign agencies and educationist can divert parents interest towards participation and involvement in child`s studies. Moreover, parents` limited involvement with their kids and their class teachers for academic progress is not enough, but parents should take part in other activities at school level. A school needs to imply certain plans and activities that can help to attain targeted goal (OECD, 2003). Along with studies influential activities should be designed in a way that every month parents, students and teachers get chance to communicate with each other and learn something new. Conclusion: From the above discussion, it could be concluded that in the process of individual`s socialization both parents and teachers play an important part and also no positive consequences will ever come out if school`s administration will not play its vital part. Moreover, monthly activities described above give chance to parents to participate in their children`s school related activities and to improve the standard of school. Reference List Education World.
