Personal ment; Master of Business Administration Ten years ago I was position 74 out of 74 in my seventh grade examinations. This was a devastating and humiliating moment in my life considering the fact that all bottom ten students were always paraded on the school assembly and each given a banana as an implication that they should continue eating and sleeping. Being the last in the class’s examination meant that I was the poorest of the poorest. It killed my spirit and desire to forge a head, and were it not for my father who said to me “there are no barriers and walls in front of success but only the ones that you built” it would have even killed my dreams and shuttered my life completely. My father’s advice turned my life around and has carried with it a message of hope, and inspiration for me to travel through life with. In fact, it has been my motto and I have based all my academic endeavors on it. His advice has made me grow up in an environment where what my heart desires is achievable and the only time that it is impossible to attain is when my heart has given up on the desire. The advice of my father completely turned my life around and has seen me go through my high school, proceed to university and now seek a master degree in Business Administration. I am approaching 27 years and I strongly believe that I am at my optimal moment for a master degree; old enough to have the maturity to completely appreciate the numerous privileges offered by your institution yet still young enough to be brimming with a lot of energy and hunger for long hours of devoted study. The stability of my emotions and my capacity to focus on the matters at hand has been refined through the many years that have diligently studied and worked in various institutions. My name is Thamer Alaqili. I was born in Saudi Arabia, Jeddah, on 13th of August 1984. I am single and I graduated from King Abdul Aziz University with a bachelor degree in Political Science. I chose to take a degree in Political Science because since my undergraduate level, I have always been fascinated by the constantly changing world that we live in , wanting to understand and explore the causes and effects of the current and future human interactions. Some of the dreams or desires I had, I greatly achieved during my working at the undergraduate level. I was able to see first hand the work ethnics of a diversified company when I was given an opportunity to work in Buildings Technology Company as a human resource specialist from 28th February, 2006 to 5th august, 2007, Jeddah. As a human resource specialist, I assisted staff members on all matters pertaining to human resource support and was responsible for their health welfare. I also administered agency grievance program, counseled employees on grievance procedures and completed research on investigations as required. My work at Buildings Technology Company was so exemplary that I was soon given a chance to work at the Ahmed Sajdi Alotaibi’s Construction Company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as a public relation assistant. I worked at the construction company from 3rd September, 2007 to 25th August 2009. As a public relation assistant, I designed and promoted programs that created a favorable image of the company for which it could be identified with in the general public. I also supported the public relations staff within the company, which included advertising and marketing initiatives, scheduling public events and releasing news. Generally, working in these two companies has given me knowledge in a range of topics to varying degrees, and highly broadened my vision and perception towards life. In addition, travelling around the world and meeting people from different races, cultures, and backgrounds have further sharpened the knowledge and skills that I posses and experiences that I have acquired. I have come to realize that to understand and explore the causes and effects of the current and future human interactions I need to pursue my career a little further and the only opening I see is masters in Business administration offered in your institution. My passion has always been in business and I believe this is where I would be of great importance to my nation and the world as a whole. I have compared your program with others and realized that yours has humanistic elements that the others do not have. I always view business as the most pragmatic way of avoiding warfare and raising living standards through conversation and a lot of clear thinking. With the changing patterns or trends of doing business in the world, it is not wise for any business student to be contented with the position he or she holds now. To achieve greater success in business, one should be innovative and ready to learn new tricks of doing business in the world. I want be a leader in the world of connecting business frontiers, especially with Saudi Arabia. A part from my personal satisfaction, it is my intrigue for the thoroughly world’s perspective that makes me like your program. As someone who has worked in two different companies for many years and travelled a lot, I am naturally eager to learn and understand the world and its cross currents, mainly along the lines of business and the legal ways of doing business, business administration, supply chain management and literacy training in the work place. I have not only got my work experience as a paid employee, but part of it has come from volunteering. I have volunteered for many non profit making organizations and orphanages. From my volunteering work, I have learned a vast knowledge in interacting with a wealth of cultures and people across all nations. With these kinds of environments that I have worked in, I believe that the new environment at your institution will not scare me away but will offer me good opportunity to realize one of the dreams of Saudi Arabia and the world as a whole. For my father, he believes he had achieved his goal for I did not quit when I wanted to but for me his advice was an eye opener that propels me to greater heights of success. The main reason for pursuing a higher education is to come to the moment of tackling a new challenge and conquering it. The height of life is arrived at through repeated self transcendences; as far as I am concerned this is the meaning of life, at least that is what my father taught me. I have done so in the years that have passed and believe that I will continue doing so in the future. At the moment, what I am doing is one of those self transcendences- to apply for a master degree admission into a university of true world prestige. Read More
