Topic:  Personal ment for Dental Institute - Endodontics Since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by field of medicine, especially in the branch of oral care. When I started going to school and learned about the field of dentistry, I became very much interested in the profession. I figured out that diagnosing, preventing and treating disorders of the human teeth will only help people have healthy teeth and have a great smile; it can also help prevent a host of other diseases from attacking the human system. As what I have learned in my readings, dental problems is one of the most prevalent forms of diseases affecting people from all over the world and most people from less socio-economically and technologically advanced countries do not get the right kind of treatment. In my country, not all people get the proper oral education or get the right treatment for dental disorders. Yes, there are a lot of dentists in my home country but many of these professionals are using outdated technology and equipment. Although these people are doing their best to serve my people and provide them with dental services, I believe that we can provide better services if we use the latest medical techniques and technology available in the field of dentistry. I understand that much can be done with the use of the latest technologies in the field of dentistry and if we can only make these technologies available and accessible to most people, we could prevent a lot of sufferings related to oral problems. In fact, we the use of these new technologies, we may be able to help prevent certain types of ailments and save lives. With this realization, I come to your prestigious institution to apply for admission to the Endodontics Program. I choose your prestigious institution because I was once a part of it as an undergraduate student of dentistry. I also worked in your hospital for 3 years during my post qualification years. After spending a number of years in your school, I can say that I am very familiar with your educational system and I am proud to say that I have learned a lot from your institution. In fact, your institution helped shaped my character and career path. With such high regard and respect for your institution, I cannot really think about apply for admission in any other dental schools other than the Dental Institute. I believe that I am qualified for admission to the orthodontics program of your institute because your school trained me well during my undergraduate years and your institute nurtured by love for the dental profession. In fact, it was during my final years in your school and during my post qualification years that I developed a keen interest in the field of endodontics and restorative dentistry. The highly esteemed Dr. Sam Smith (endodontics specialist), and Dr. May Jones (Prosthodontics specialist) introduced me to the various aspects of modern endodontic and prosthdontics techniques. Together with these two brilliant doctors, I was able to explore the different possibilities of restoring and preserving the dental health of the patient. I observed and practiced the use of microscopes, protaper/themrafil techinuaues, hand instrumentation, rotary endo, ultrasonic instrumentation, and assistance in surgical endodontic procedures. While observing and learning from these specialists, I started to dream of becoming a specialist in this area and provide the best care that I am capable of giving to my patients. I have practiced my profession for 3 years in the UK at the Dental Hospital Campus and through the practice of my profession; I was able to hone my skills and focused on my special interests. Aside from working in the hospital, I also had the privilege of teaching in the Dentistry Program for 2 years. I had the privilege of teaching 4th and 5th year students the preclinical practices of restorative dentistry, endodontics and periodontal instrumentation implementation. I also helped to evaluate students and examine their competency during their 4th and 5th years in college. After working as a dentist in the United Kingdom, I went home to my country and established a practice there. As a dentist in my country, I realized that there is a wide gap between the technology used by dentists in the UK and in my country. It saddens me to say this but when it comes to heath care technology, my country lags far behind that of the United Kingdom and other advanced nations. I have no doubts that we can improve the dental care system in our country but it will take a lot of time, efforts and the right training to effect these huge changes in the system. Helping change the dentistry practice in my country sounds like a very big goal so I have divided my career goals into three, namely, short term, medium term and long term. My short term goals are to pursue an advanced education in endodontics and develop a high level of proficiency in modern endodontic techniques. This will instill in me the confidence and skills to diagnose and treat complicated endodontic cases. My medium term goal is to go back to my country and established a practice using the latest technology and techniques that I have learned in my studies. I also want to share my knowledge to my colleagues and encourage them to learn new techniques to improve their practice and prove better care to their patients. My long-term goals are to be a board-certified endodontist of the highest quality, who is an asset to not only the dental community but also the community in which I live. It may take years but I intend to be one of the catalysts for change and move the dental services and patients education to the level of patients in the United Kingdom. I have big dreams for the future and I fully understand that these dreams will not materialize unless I am admitted to the best dental institute and get the right kind of training. Your MCinDent program will help me accomplish my goals of achieving a comprehensive understanding of the complexities and intricacies of modern endodontics. Your postgraduate training and mentorship will enable me to be an asset to the dental department in my home country where local specialists in dentistry are scarce. I feel strongly that the combination of my education and my work experience makes me an excellent candidate for the Endo program. I have learned the critical importance of working as a team player and building a good rapport with one’s colleagues. I labor to develop leadership skills through the development of a humble, diplomatic, yet creative attitude, always staying positive, energetic, and highly professional. At the same time, I treat all who cross my path in a warm and friendly way. I think that leadership is about caring, listening, and having a genuine interest in people. I am eager to continue my education and specialize in the field of endodontics. I look forward to the intensity, excitement, and challenge of your program. Becoming an endodontist will allow me to realize my central dream in life of service to others and I want to thank you for considering my application. Read More
