The science of electronics has fascinated me ever since I took the first lessons on Rutherford’s experiment about the structure of atom in high-school. My inclination towards this field of study is evident from my performance in Physics at school where I achieved 92 percent marks in high school Science; 100 percent in the practical exam. Moreover, my First Class Division with Distinction in my Undergraduate (2007) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India, speaks volumes about my in-born proclivity towards Electronics. This interest has further impelled me to obtain a graduate degree in the same area of study in order to achieve further specialization. For this purpose, I seek admission in the Imperial College London, which specializes in courses pertaining to this area of study. Hence, I would like to apply for the MSc. in Analog and Digital Integrated Circuit Design as my first choice program from the respective institution. This program has interested me as it is the best designed program to bridge that gap between the graduate students and the industry by providing the right set of skills and specialized knowledge and by training the students in state-of-the-art technology systems. As my second choice, I wish to apply for the MSc. in Communication Systems being offered at the same institution. The reason why I am interested in these courses is that complex mathematical programming has always been my strong academic point. My performance indicators of the undergraduate courses undertaken in subjects of Electronics and Communication Engineering stand as a witness to my excellence in the field of my interest. Communication and Signal processing marked my interest in the form of a working model of remote switching using the known principle Dual Tone Multi Frequency signaling. The above mentioned program at Imperial has been my choice because it gives me a challenging environment of learning with cutting edge research technology. I possess a keen interest in Science of Electronics and its insightful analysis and conceptual understanding & application are the aspects that appeal to me the most. Specifically Digital Integrated Circuit Design and Analysis is an area of my interest. I have done a course on Digital IC Applications in the third year of my undergraduate study as well, which has given me significant scope of analysis on the subject. Masters in this field will be a milestone in my career which already has various specializations in software systems, as I plan to work/research in this field after the completion of my graduate degree. Academically, I enjoy relevant schooling in basic electronic devices and circuits. This course was fundamental in laying a sound foundation for my entire undergraduate study program. As mentioned above, I have completed my Undergraduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India with a final mark of First Class with Distinction. This degree course has been certified by NARIAC evaluation as comparable to British Bachelor (Honors) degree standard. Furthermore, I have a score of 8 in IELTS and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), used as the criteria for admission into postgraduate program in India, declared me among the top 2 percent candidates in India. I also have consistent scores throughout academics from school to undergraduate studies. My additional Academic Skills include C Programming, Basic VHDL and MATLAB Programming as a part of my curriculum. I also possess good programming and problem solving skills. Apart from class lessons, I have also attended various workshops and have learnt about the latest trends in electronics. These out-of-class learning activities have provided me with a sound platform of study as they have added to my competence. It has provided me with unique learning opportunities which were equal in terms of their academic depth with the advanced knowledge of terms of circuits and systems. I believe I have sufficient work experience necessary complement my admission in this program. My work experience highlights my software expertise as I have worked with IBM India Private Limited as a Systems Engineer. The work experience sums to the total of two years, it has given me expertise in the areas of software application, development and maintenance. The job has trained me in the tasks of daily decision making where conversion and application of text-based ideas into real-time solutions has to be done at a daily basis. In addition to that, my high class academic standing speaks a lot about my work ethic. I have a history of hard work to prove that investment of time and resources in me is not a waste. Moreover, I have an inclination towards teaching, conceptual analysis and grasping fundamentals. I possess strong presentation skills and proactively take part in academic and extra-curricular activities including organizing and attending workshops and study groups and volunteering activities, etc. As far as my career plans are concerned, I plan to embark on a career as a specialist in mixed signals and digital circuits. A graduate degree would help in acquiring specialized knowledge industry specific skills exposure to various advancements in the field. In short, my best performances at work and academics and keen interest in the respective field of study prove me to be a worthy candidate for your institute.
