A comparison of costs associated with both approaches is discussed, as well as considerations such as intellectual property or copyright law, with respect to classroom use.  The investigation also compares technologies and the value in adding additional interactivity features for students, such as blogs and discussion boards, in regard to their usefulness in the interactive learning environment.  Studies of e-platforms that are considered effective and ineffective will both be reviewed, to determine whether the some of the features mentioned are worthwhile for inclusion in the design of the Anatomy e-Learning application.

The goal in designing the e-learning platform is to provide an interactive learning environment that benefits most college level Anatomy and Physiology students.  This is done by reviewing the literature on learning styles and how current applications are used on university campuses, for various subjects and courses.  The design will take in to account the various challenges that students face in learning, in general, as well as the learning curve, in using an e-learning platform.  For example, some students have limited exposure to computerized or e-learning platforms.

  Some lack computer-savvy, particularly older students who did not grow up with the internet or computers.  Still, others are completely comfortable with the e-learning platform, eager to use the technology in the interactive learning environment. College Freshman and Sophomore students typically take Anatomy and Physiology as a required course for a variety of majors.  Some will go on to study Medicine, Nursing or Physical Therapy, while others will study Biology or Zoology.  This undergraduate level course is presented in a very straightforward manner.

  However, learning all the material and concepts presented can be very challenging, particularly for those who learn better in a hands-on or visual manner.
