This idea was put forward by Dr Noam Chomsky, who hypothesized that children are born with a special ability to process language through an innate language acquisition device. Children start learning to speak the language of their parents about the time they take their first steps. The language acquisition device is well activated in an infant’s brain in the presence of parents, guardians and siblings. In the child the device is activated by language input, listening to the parents and watching others family members interacting with each other.

Pronunciation is the manner in which someone utters a word, expression or statement. It is said that (Gilbert, 1994) “Pronunciation has been something of an orphan in English programs around the world. Why has pronunciation been a poor relation? I think it is because the subject has been drilled to death, with too few results from too much effort" pronunciation difficulties are faced not only by the people who learn another language as a second language but by the native speakers as well, depending upon their grooming and the surrounding environment.

Teaching and learning of pronunciation come into picture when somebody tries to learn a second language, which effectively means learning another skill to understand a different culture or to be able to acquire new knowledge for enriching the lives of individuals. Learner requires working harder in order to understand the number of cultural variations and new experiences. The information age proves innovative opportunities for learning the language and in turn, the task of a teacher becomes a lot easier as he takes the assistance of tools like prerecorded devices VCDs, DVDs, cassettes etc.

Language learning has become a lot interactive as well. Information age also necessitates the need for learning a newer language as globalisation provides opportunities for working at places other than the native place of individuals. One of the crucial requirements for proficiency in a language is to pick-up good understandable pronunciation for the learners.
