Extract of sample "New School Values"

The educational leaders after conducting a school-wide self-evaluation identified that the routine school life did not purely comprise the new school values. The school routine life includes administration, operations, staff development choices, classroom instructions, school-wide community service projects and diversity. Diversity encompasses beliefs, people, philosophies and values. The essay provides possible solutions to address the problem of new school values not restricted to school routine life.

When formulating school values, it is important that the values uphold the policy within the institution as well as the community. The exclusive rationale of the school is to mould the learners to fit into society and safeguard the desires of their parents. In low-income societies, education plays a significant role in creating socio-political awareness among the illiterate population. The school values should meet the system values much needed in society (Prasad, 2006).

Values are the ideals that an individual, family, organization, and community seek. Parents mould their children according to their cultural beliefs and values. When enrolled in a given institution, it is important that the school values promote the beliefs and values of the parents. School values that do not recognize the cultural beliefs and values of society are likely to be unpopular with parents (Barsky, 2009).

To solve the problem, all stakeholders should conduct surveys, hold forums, use student work samples, analyse teachers’ self-evaluation, feedback from administrators, parent’s feedback, and research to help align school values. Good values provide a favourable environment for the teaching staff, safe learning environment for students and ensure smooth administration of the school. The values should safeguard the interest of the society other than a particular institution. Read More
