Differentiates Developmental Theory and Rudimentary Theory PART 1 Question 1 Research has intensified in different areas over the past with many people venturing in areas where theoretic information exists, but there is lack of practical consortium. Publishing an action research helps in bridging the gap between theoretic readers and practical application of the theory in the real environment. Research that is unpublished does not help the society as it leaves a void in knowledge base across different platforms. However, when the research is published, one can link the concepts in the theoretic framework to the facts in the research findings and find a balance between the two in the environment (Mertler, 2011). When action research findings are shared; they increase the interrelation between theoretic research and practice. The rapport between the two differentiates developmental theory and rudimentary theory thus publishing action research transforms information to application knowledge. More so, publishing an action research encourages other people to undertake similar researches in the same or other areas, thus widening the knowledge application base. Publishing also widens the understanding of local readers of facts that they may consider palpable yet they affect their lives in a colossal way. Question 2 Findings from an action research can be shared through data enclaves. This involves putting related findings in small groups called enclaves and allowing access for the people who consume such data. Data enclaves help in sharing findings and keeping them confidential before publishing. In case the findings of a research are confidential, they may be shared through remote execution systems. The findings are put in highly protected areas so that any request for secondary research in the area are submitted on the system. Findings of an action research may also be shared conventionally while limiting the level of access to such data. Top-coding is a technique of limiting the maximum number of people allowed access to certain findings, for example 1-35000. Conversely, while sharing this information, discretion should be prioritized. Confidentiality can be maintained through de-identification and ensuring the people providing information remain anonymous. Question 3 In the field of medicine, findings from field and laboratory researches are shared through peer reviewed journals. A peer reviewed journal is basically a report with details of the features that the scientists observe in the experiments and their conclusions basing on such observations and medical/ scientific theory. Peer reviewed journals consists of findings from clinical trials that need approval. The medical field also publishes unvarying reports on new features observed in the laboratory and its relationship with existing scientific data. Scientific theory is not enough in medical research as the findings need review and analysis enabled through peer reviewed journals. The peer reviewed journals and regular reports also enable accreditation from experienced and recognized medical apprentices and doctors in a particular area of research. Question 4 I subscribed to the Ontario Action Researcher mailing list for one week and contributed on various research topics and findings posted on the mailing list(Mertler, 2011). I also attempted with great success to initiate a discussion on sharing research data. My reaction was an awe-inspiring reception and involvement in the discussion on the mailing list. The mailing list served as one of the best platforms for sharing research results and getting people’s views on the data. The mailing list also helped me in getting comprehensive theory on the areas of research under discussion including ones that I had researched. From the mailing list discussions about the bears in South Ontario, one of the participants raised a claim that the bears threatened the existence of human beings in the area while a different researcher had a contradictory finding about the same. This raised debate and critique from the contributors. In the end, it prompted further research with a conclusion being reached that the bears were not dangerous unless aggravated. From the discussion, I learnt that mailing lists can help one in expanding their research. It helps in uncovering aspects of the research that one may not have realized earlier on in the research. I also learnt that interaction and sharing research findings through mailing lists broadens one’s discerning scope as I was able to analyze the information in the research in a new perspective with the discussions. Question 5 I visited Classroom Action Centre, Madison Metropolitan School District accessible through the link http://oldweb.madison.k12.wi.us/sod/car/carhomepage.html. In order to have research work published in the journal, there are a number of steps that are undertaken (Mertler, 2011). One must first identify and analyze the area that he/ she wants to research in order to understand it. Understanding the questions guiding the research forms the second step in getting the work published on the journal. The two steps are taken prior to field engagement to collect findings on a particular area. Once one has done the research, the findings are discussed in an open forum using online media like a mailing list and appraised. The author (researcher in most cases) is then allowed to redo the report incorporating the valid discussion points arising from these forums and resubmit it for final approval by the journal editor. If the research results are deemed fit, the journal is published. Otherwise, the author is tasked with making relevant changes in preparation for publishing. PART 2 The article is titled Using Action Research as a Collaborative Process to Enhance Educators’ And Families’ Knowledge and Skills for Youth with Emotional or Behavioral Disorders. It was written by Douglas Cheney. The article analyzes the collaboration between different parties in attainment of balance in the lives of children with disorders. I agree with research findings that collaboration in the academic institutions helps in attaining balance and overall effect in the lives of the students that could not be attained exclusively by one of the parties. Collaboration creates a network of effect around the children with disorders which makes them adapt to the environment hence an overall effect. I agree that collaboration helps the educators reduce feelings of isolation and attrition when handling children with disorders like mental disorders. When the parties collaborate, they show care to the children from all sides hence the children will feel loved and wanted by members of the society. The Action and Research Process (APR) is recommended as one of the best collaborative tools derived from research to help in attaining balance among other goals for the students (Cheney, 1998). I agree that it is a powerful tool to the process. However, the action taken should be screened keenly and evaluated basing on the environment and the affected children. Some of the actions derived from research may not apply to isolated cases hence the need to develop isolated methods to deal with the out-of-the-way cases among the children. APR is majorly a methodological approach gauging by previous application. However, it should be procedurally prioritized among children with different disabilities. However, it is subservient to note the evaluation process as an important step in application of APR as it helps in knowing the benefits it brings to the children and extent of its positives and negatives. Before the students are taken through the case study, I agree that they should be taken through a procedural selection process for consent and analysis purposes. However, some of the steps should be realigned to provide a wholesome experience to the whole APR process. The strengths and weaknesses of the children should be identified ahead of time in a relaxed environment free of pressure. This can be done before inviting the parents hence the parents can help in firming up the evaluation. However, with the children aware that they are part of the study, there is a high tendency of makeshift behavior although the children are having some defects. When identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the children, case analysis is important to determine reactions in different environments (Cheney, 1998). The children live and operate in environments with different parties and features hence there is need to evaluate them practically as they interact with the stakeholders. APR helps in attaining balance which other aspects of the environment could not. This means that this balance should occur naturally within the interaction consortium. When implementing the understudy solution to the children, important analysis should be taken to determine the effect of the designed solution and the ability of the children to adapt to the solution. One of the steps in the implementation is review to ensure that the solution is working for the leaner. However, implementing a wrong solution is likely to jeopardize any steps to make the child adapt to the environment hence a keener look at the solution is necessary. Precipitously, I agree with research findings that collaboration in the academic institutions helps in attaining balance and overall effect in the lives of the students that could not be attained exclusively by one of the parties. However, some of the steps should be realigned to provide a wholesome experience to the whole APR process.APR helps in attaining balance which other aspects of the environment could not.
