Ubben G, Hunges L, Norris C. The Principal: Creative Leadership for Excellence in School. Boston: Pearson, Print
Chapter 7 of this book is about how principals should encourage student achievement. I learnt that organizing learning groups is a key factor in determining a principal’s leadership skills with respect to students’ success. I learnt that in order to form effective groups, the following factors should be considered: define the learning, formulate learning objectives, list the essential learning, designate learning sequence, match a student’s learning to behaviour, and transform the learning process into analytic question. Chapter 8 of this book is about dealing with special needs students and special services. I learnt that in order to promote the excellence of special needs students and provide special services, principals need to consider the following factors. First, they need to determine how to deal with the parent of the physically challenged students. This may include identifying supportive parents, denying parents, and non- responsive parents. Second, they need to get well acquainted with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act such as Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 1990 (Ubben et al 161). Additionally, they should state how to discipline special need students. Lastly, they should recognize their roles outside public agencies.
Through these readings, I realized that leadership is a quality that is focused on achieving set goals. It is also bound within the context of responsibilities, tasks, and presented problems. Therefore, principals should control their schools through the manipulation of power that is meant to increase the student’s performance. Both regular and special needs students should also be made to feel happy about achieving excellence and perform within their levels of competencies.
I am currently a member of a discussion group that was formed based on friendship. I am, therefore, going to request our principal to dissolve all the discussion groups and re- group them based on the factors listed in this article. This will increase the value and effectiveness of these discussion groups. In addition, I have realized that the school principal and other teachers lack a logical method of disciplining special needs students. I am, therefore, going to ask the principal to review the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (2005), and develop a reasonable approach of disciplining special needs students.

Public Relations and School Administration: The Jena Six Story

The infamous Juvenile Correctional Centre for Youth is located in Jena, with the institution closing after merely 2 years of its opening. The closing of the institution was owed to prevalent brutality and racism. One of the scandals they were involved in was the choking of black juveniles during a meeting with a lawyer. The guards also paid inmates for them to wrestle and fight with each other for their entertainment and also laughed at teenagers who are trying to commit suicide inside the jails (Witt, 2007).
At one time, district boundaries lines had been drawn to establish or maintain white-non white separation. It was in the last 20 or so years that nonwhites had begun to move into several areas; Jena for one, previously p...

The indifference was not a surprise to me, as this new platform was the idea of VP himself, and he had devoted lots of energy and also consumed HR and other resources from the company at large. The idea also already had enjoyed many publicity campaigns.

Hybrid Leadership: A Theory of Action

The challenge that is brought upon us by the status quo is a function of many factors. The budget is among them. Instruction quality is both a result and a contributor—and many more. Nevertheless, not all factors are immutable. There are still some that may be manipulated to produce a better outcome. We will do so through effective educational leadership.

It is best to start by evaluating the leadership practices we are employing all these years. As we favor the Kaizen philosophy, this is an opportune time to revisit our former approach to leadership then compare it with today’s practices and procedures with a rethink of our leadership styles so as to equip our organization with what it needs to move forward...

Comparing Management and Leadership

Once a manager decides on something, his subordinates are required to follow whatever he tells them or else he would have to use the power and authority vested in him to reprimand those who go against his directives. Managers are not their own bosses and as such, they are motivated by the salaries which they are paid for their services. This also makes them subordinates who follow orders from their bosses and who hold them accountable for the progress or failure of the business. Management is a process that focuses on ensuring that there is stability in the organization as well as proper utilization of resources in order to create a harmonious environment for maximizing profits while also minimizing risks, which is the overall sen...

I Have Sinned by Bill Clinton

President Clinton addressed an audience comprising clergymen and ministers. The buildup to this event was much hyped as the earlier statement made by the President before the independent Ken Starr counsel on August 17, 1998, was charged with perjury and deliberate obfuscation of truth. Moreover, the earlier speech did not mention Monica Lewinsky and her family – a form of non-renouncing apology, which is a rhetorical ploy to generalize one’s actions, in a bid to justify one’s wrongdoing in a noncommittal manner. Such an approach diminishes the graveness of the action for which an entire nation was ashamed of, not to mention the tremendous social and psychological damage it did to Monica Lewinsky and her family.

My Expectations for Counselling Work Placement

Emotional trauma and physical trauma are two different types of trauma. However, they are not mutually exclusive. They may or may not be related depending on the context of the situation. For example, wounds from physical trauma like a gunshot wound may eventually heal. However, the emotional impact of the incident may last him long. It will take him time before he comes out. The emotional wounds and repercussions of the traumatic event may be long-lasting. Thus, psychological trauma can take years to rebound. If it’s left untreated and unresolved, it can become more devastating than the physical wounds. It can’t be left unattended and should be dealt with immediately.
