Deepening Understanding Of A Topic Through Research
This learning outcome included activities such as exploratory research log and paper, progress report, annotated bibliography, classical argument, and situation exercise. These activities played a crucial role in the process of understanding and learning. While carrying out these activities, various writing styles were employed, which helped incomprehension of the styles. This outcome helped in the selection of material on which to base any given work. The activities were exceptionally helpful because they provided models for preliminary work. They also provided grounds for decisively planning work and logical processing of analysis. Activities such as situation writing and exploratory research for this outcome was time-consuming because they needed comprehensive research. However, assignments such as an annotated bibliography and classical argument provided the basics needed for the outcome. In doing these activities, it was surprising to note that when doing an exploratory research, no previous models are used. This approach is applied in cases where there is no alternative. The goal in doing an exploratory research includes the documentation of the object comprehensively, and not restricting the description to the topics that have already been documented in previous studies. Individual presentations could effectively enhance the objectives of this learning outcome (Singer, 2006).
Craft A Clear and Engaging Thesis Statement And Support It With Well Organized Argument And Appropriate Documented Evidence.
This learning outcome provided insights in preparing a thesis statement, annotated bibliography, classical argument and reference list. These activities effectively helped in understanding plagiarism and styles of referencing. The activities helped in writing an appealing thesis statement, and an introductory paragraph. The activity on plagiarism, referencing annotated bibliography and classical arguments helped in attaining the goals of the outcome. All the assignment provided basics for understanding the learning outcome. The activity on annotated bibliography was surprising because it is done differently from other writing. In addition, activities on in-text citation and referencing provided insights on how they are done. In preparing a classical argument, for instance, I learned how to analyze and break down the argument, and how to state the argument in the essay. Application of group arguments could effectively be used to enhance the outcomes of this learning activity (Singer, 2006).
In Light Of Ethical And Contemporary Issues, Understand And Use Underlying Assumption And Values In Developing An Argument.
This learning outcome effectively helped in writing a summary and strong response and preparing a situation paper. It also played a role in understanding how to write a progress report in light of ethical and contemporary issues. This activity helped in forming a creative or direct title and in clarifying the subject of the paper in the introduction. For this learning outcome, activities such as a summary and strong response, exploratory research and progress report, and classical argument were helpful in achieving the outcome. This is because the activities required an application of ethics and ethical understanding. Some of the activities in this exercise were time-consuming because they required enough research on the topic and their ethical bearing. The ethical and contemporary issues addressed during the activity were surprising because they opened up ethical issues that people deal with daily. Debates could effectively achieve the objectives of this learning outcome. Debates offer grounds for comprehensive arguments, giving information on both sides of the ethical issue. Debates help in enabling the individuals to articulate the problems or issues in a critical manner. I feel that these activities optimally helped in achieving the aims of this outcome (Singer, 2006).

Is it reasonable to allow technology to decide whether or not a particular race has the right to live and procreate? Thinking of it from a layman’s perspective, it appears that all of this is unfair. A couple has full right to decide whether or not it wants children, an individual has every right to be employed as long as his or her talents fit the eligibility for employment, a particular race has every right to inhabit the earth as do other races. Simple! Problems arise when these questions are answered from the perspective of an expert geneticist. He or she would think that a couple at risk of giving birth to a child with an untreatable disease should not bear children. A race with a recessive trait for a deadly disease should...

Deepening Affirmations

Generally speaking, the Deepening Affirmation opens up a world of thought that is provocative and an eye-opener.
I have learned remarkably in reading the self-help book written by Benor. In it, Benor asserts the close connection between the body and the mind (1). For instance, the physical pain that a person feels is something that a body wants to communicate to that person. Although physical, at certain extent, pain also exists in one’s mind. Benor’s concept of pain is distinct from what the modern science defines the term “pain.” For him, pain is deeply related to the person’s past. When an individual experiences pain, such pain is not derived from the physical immediate environment but from his or her inner self. With this...

Research topic sex trade

This paper will prove that sex trade is one of the most negative phenomena in the life of the American society and show the effect that it has on females who are aged 12-15 and entered sex trade.
It may be particularly important to analyze the quantitative aspect of the issue in order to understand the scope of it. To begin with, it must be noticed that several years ago the population of people who were victims of sex trade almost reached 21 million people (“Child trafficking Statistics”, 2012). What is worst is that a relatively big number of instances is registered in the United States: it is thought that roughly a million and a half were affected by this negative social phenomenon. In addition to that, the number of childr...

Marx' Understanding of Freedom

Marx’s conception is that if society transitioned from capitalist to socialist thought, this would result in a higher form of civilization. The citizenry should be able to control their own destiny and the morality of others should not be legislated or otherwise controlled by an entity other than the citizenry themselves. Regulations, the lack of personal freedoms, in the name of morality restrict individual and societal sovereignty.

Marx was born a German Jew but lived most of his life in England and France. In these countries, the prevailing liberal political philosophy viewed the concept of freedom as the right for people to make their own choices regarding their lives and property. In today’s terms, this...

Explaining White-Collar Crime through Sykes and Matzas Neutralization Techniques and Mertons Anomie

Modern criminology indicates that the term is of no limitation by referencing to types of crime, which could be enumerated as a crime by the time of the offense, by the type of offender, and by organizational culture (Cote 2002, p. 202). White-collar crimes are generally not associated with poverty or pathologies relating to it. The legal definition of crime is viewed as the only definition of crime, in which the behavior being examined is punishable by law (Sutherland 1949, p. 84).

Sutherland (1949, p. 84) claims that persons belonging to the upper socioeconomic class are involved in such criminal behavior, which is characterized as different from the criminal behavior in which the lower socioeconomic class engage in p...

Although the could have come up with a more direct title, the title “Developing a Research base for Intravenous Peripheral cannula re-sites. A randomized controlled trial” captures the essence of the paper and what the authors aim to address. They, however, could have made it more direct to the point by maybe saying that the study is about a comparison between 3 day cannula re-sites and cannula re-sites as dictated by clinical condition. Nonetheless, the chosen t title is suitable enough to briefly inform the reader of the topic of the research. Two hypotheses were tested in this paper. There are two groups that were compared in the paper...

Research ethics was maintained as the identity of the individuals participating was kept secret. Gender Roles Revealed through Jane Austen

In presenting this world that she was witness to, Austen perhaps inadvertently made a great deal of commentary on the social elements that were taking place. It is possible she caught something between the lines that most of her contemporaries, and many since have missed. Because she was working to capture the “polite social relationships between members of the landed classes within the context of the village and the great house” (Monaghan, 1980: 5), Austen has been paradoxically recognized as a staunch supporter of the Victorian gender ideals of female submission and subjugation as well as a strong forerunner of the feminist movement. An investigation of the ideas she presents in books such as Sense and Sensibility, b...
