March 2007 Transfer Essay to George Washington My is ______________________, presently a [please state your current degree program] from the University of Houston. I currently live in [please state your location]. My decision to apply and hopefully transfer to George Washington University was mainly attributed to my keen interest on taking up a major in International Business, with a minor in Political Communications. After my high school graduation in [please state where you graduated], I was not very much decided on what college degree to pursue.
During that time, making long-term goals were not something I seriously planned and considered. The University of Houston was not my first school of choice but still decided to enroll in the hope of being able to be more independent in a place far away from home. However, things changed when I entered the University. Indeed, homesickness was one of the difficult problems I had to contend with. More importantly, it was also in college where I learned and realized what I’ve always wanted in life, yet never really knew what it really was until the very last minute.
Because of this, I decided to pursue this application, in the hope of being able to prove of my worth, not only to myself but as well as to the very university I wish to excel. The degree program I chose is something that I could easily relate with, having come from a family with a long line of political history. My father, [please state you father’s name], is a direct descendant of the exiled royal family of Yemen [you could specify the name of your exiled ancestors]. On the other hand, my mother, [please state you mother’s name], also came from a political family as my grandfather [name of grandfather] was an Ambassador of Yemen to Iran as well as the United States during his active days.
My Aunt [name], my mother’s sister, works internationally for the United Nations. Aside from the fact that George Washington University is relatively near to my family, the major and minor degree being offered by this reputable academic institution would open new doors for individuals like me. From its reputable instructors and professors, highly competitive academic subjects, up to its numerous internship programs, George Washington University would also be instrumental in making each and every student get the very best of what education has to offer, from instructional to experiential learning through practical and on-site application of various course subjects.
Given my strong political background and experience on International Affairs and Politics, my ardent desire to pursue International Business, and most especially my eagerness to contribute to this reputable institution, my transfer would hopefully be able to become a two-way fruitful endeavor that would not only benefit students like us, but would essentially be able to benefit the very institution who helped shape students’ lives in more ways than one.
