This paper puts forth some writing and reading learning activities to enhance the same in 5th graders. They still tend to delve on the literal meaning of words. So the idea would be to develop their understanding of figurative language. Secondly, it would also aim at inculcate student understanding and ability to connect different ideas and arguments, in a given context. In general the ability to understand and comprehend information will be developed at this level.
