At the end of its useful life the entire product can be shredded and turned into organic material, which can then be used, for example, as fertilizer for growing plants. The work has been carried out for the Netherlands companies Bond Textile Research, Best Wool Carpets and James, which own the four patents on which this new biological technology is based. The so-called "cradle-to-cradle" model has been central to the work done by the team led by Tzanko Tzanov, a researcher with the Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology Group at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. BarcelonaTechs Terrassa Campus. The outcome is an enzyme-based biological technology that paves the way for three Netherlands companies to manufacture carpets that are much lighter, sustainable, biodegradable, and 100% recyclable. At the end of their useful life, the carpets can be used as fertiliser or substrate for growing plants. The system saves a great deal of energy, completely closes the biological cycle for wool, and significantly reduces the final cost of carpet products.

Development of Bio Materials for 3-Dimensional Printing
...Development of Bio Materials for 3-Dimensional Printing Introduction Fabrication of various scientific and engineering fabrication in the traditional sense made use of fiber bonding, solvent casting and particulate leaching, melt moulding, gas foaming, and membrane lamination (Lam, Mo, Teoh, and Hutmacher, 2002). Hutmacher (2000) observed that the disadvantages of using such materials are many including use of toxic organic solvents, long fabrication periods, poor reproduction possibilities, poor connectivity of pores and thin structures, incomplete removal of residual particulates on the polymer matrix, limited control on shapes, irregularly shaped pores, labour-intensive processes,...

Different materials depending on the type of application used have different densities. For lightweight structures aluminium is used which has a density of 2700kg/m^3. For heavier structures requiring a more robust construction, carbon steels of density 7850kg/m^3 is used. Storage tanks and other structures operating in a corrosive environment would prefer...

Materials: Development of pre-dried and blended lime mortars for the ready-mix market
...Materials: Development of Pre-Dried and Blended Lime Mortars For the Ready-Mix Market INTRODUCTION: For increasing sustainability in business operations, there are four key areas that the building industry needs to improve, which are: energy, materials, waste and pollution. Hence, a prudent use of natural resources is essential (CIOB, 2007: 3). This paper proposes to present a literature review on the development of pre-dried and blended lime mortars for the ready-mix market. There is an increasing market for the newly introduced ready mix lime mortar. Through research and development this further promises to evolve into the next generation of...

..., there should be no restriction as to whether the material used is from an old publication. Thus, this publication although is o the year 1999, it can be used. e) Reliability The publication should be reliable enough since there have been two authors working on it and the publication is from the Western Australian Department of Training, which is credible enough. Also, there are other publications available from the author. ...Chemistry 14 November Materials in Green Cement The largely used construction material globally is Portland cement with an annual production of about 12 billion tones. However, its production utilizes vast amounts of raw materials such as limestone and sand, liberating a ton of carbon dioxide gas per ton of cement produced (Shah & Wang 15). The current focus on sustainable development in concrete technology aims at producing more environmentally friendly cement, which spawns less carbon dioxide and expends less energy. Such environmentally favorable cement is what is referred to as “green cement.” This paper focuses on the advancement of “non-clinker green cement”...

Development and behaviour of high performance concrete materials and their use in innovative structural solutions
...Development and behavior of high performance concrete materials and their use in innovative structural solutions: submission: Abstract: In the recent times, an emerging technology referred to as HPC (high performance concrete) or UHPC (Ultra high performance concrete) has become quite popular in the construction industry. The component material of this substance depends on desired traits, as well as, availability of the appropriate local economic alternatives. The ultra high performance concretes have been utilizes in innovative structural solution, owing to their behaviors such as flexibility and unique combination. Introduction: Amongst the new types of concrete...

...MATERIALS FOR CONSTRUCTION Registration Number: In this case, we are going to compare two structures. We have structure A and structure B. structure A is a 500 slab. This slab is 30 cm thick, so the total volume of the slab is 150. This structure has a tidal zone of San Diego. This is the reason why the structure has constructed using quite a strong mixture. On the other hand we have structure B which is a 800 circular column with a thickness of 50 cm. the total volume for this structure is 400. The analysis period for this structure is similar to that of the above structure. This structure is also exposed to the tidal zones of Miami. The main differences occur in the mixtures that were made and used in the construction...

...manufacturing; they can easily build things compared to old machines. Consequently, introduction of automatic machines will increase the cost of production. Automated milling machines have rendered factories efficient in their manufacturing processes. Most modern products cannot be manufactured using old machineries (Markillie 1). There is a corresponding change in the materials used in making modern products such as carbon-fiber composites. Software use in factories is increasingly gaining precedence in modern societies. Social manufacturing is equally ginning prominence in the modern world. The third industrial revolution will benefit developed countries, according to Markillie. Application of 3D...

Materials Handling Policy Development
...Material Handling Policy Development due: Identification of the Health Hazards Any individual working with industries that use sulphuric acid as their raw material or manufactures of the acid itself must understand the dangers linked it. Manufacturers are required to make health hazard information presented on the product tag and material safety data sheet (MSDS). Identification of these health hazards such as irritation of the skin informs the users of what to do and not to do in relation to chemical handling. It also helps in minimizing cases of employees exposing him/herself to these hazards unknowingly (Seufert, 2014). Identification of the methods used to protect the...

...Materials development Team two had a stronger argument because when a company invests in developing stronger and durable raw materials they ensure that their products satisfy the needs of the customer. Although the cost of production will be high; hence, decreasing mass production the products will be satisfactory, and the customer will not have to spend more money for maintenance of the products or replacing the gadgets. Even though, people live for today and not tomorrow having a gadget that functions properly and have the necessary features makes life easier. However, if the gadget was made from low-cost materials it will keep on spoiling as it is...
