In addition, human trafficking can refer to a crime of trading human beings illegally, mainly for forced labor or commercial sex. The process of human trafficking involves kidnapping, tricking, or coercing individuals to slavery. The U.S justice department states that an approximation of 18,000 people is trafficked in the country per year. Additionally, according to “Free the Slaves”, there are so many cases of human trafficking in the U.S., according to the state department, there are five categories of human trafficking, which include involuntary domestic servitude , sex trafficking, bonded and forced labour, and child soldiers (Collins 75).

There are thousands of human trafficking victims around the world according the ILO statistics. Additionally, the statistical data from ILO states that an approximate of three million individuals is in forced labor. The plan Togo organization should put more effort to ensure reduction of human trafficking since this is an existing problem affecting a large group of human beings especially young energetic youths (Lucht 45). A broad variety of aspects are influencing the illegal business of human trafficking.

The major factor influencing human trafficking is poverty. For instance, the divorced mother gave out his daughter to her hand due to overwhelming and poverty. Many current researches indicate that, a large group of people is living on a daily income of less than $2 (below poverty line). In addition, most of the trafficked children are from poor backgrounds. This is because their parents are extremely poor to feed and sustain them in schools (Zimmerman 76). Other factors that contribute to human trafficking include, lack of enough education, chronic unemployment, low status of children and women in both society and economy, corruption, political instability, poor financial status, and others such as civil unrest, militarism, and natural disasters.
