The ability of the artist to combine space, form, and colour as well as the culture and tradition of the people within the society tells us something about an architectural design. In line with this matter, the author of Bauhaus discussed how the school became a strong influence in the training and development of craftmanship among the modern painters, achitects, and sculptors. One of the school’s strong influence of Bauhaus started when the school decided to effectively train the painters, architects and sculptors to become artistically inclined. This was done by enabling the students to understand the importance of combining their suggested ideas, concepts, knowledge on new materials and available technology including their individual skills when creating a new concept or design. In fact, one of the many goals of Bauhaus is to enable the readers to fully understand the importance of craftmanship especially when it comes to modernization of art designs. The Bauhaus started in Weimar between the years 1919 to 1925 when the school was temporarily closed because of the lack of financial capabilities to continue its operations. Between December 1926 up to 1932, the Bauhaus in Dessau became operational. Eventually, Bauhaus in Berlin managed to served the public only between 1932 to 1933 since the Bauhaus was closed down because of the political decisions of Hitler under the Nazi regime. The training provided by the Bauhaus to its students was not limited to designing on papers.

Through exploring the art of architecture, designers explore the three dimensional space in order to create an interpretation of something within the social system from the culture for which it is designed. Cathedrals have been known to express their spiritual nature thru exploring the importance of relevant numeral interpretations, while public buildings have often built with a symmetry that expresses the justice that can be found within the walls.
This discussion talks that the development of twentieth-century design in both art and architecture was one which was considered essential in the formation of avant – garde philosophies. The development of Bauhaus was one of the main influences that pushed society into a different understanding of what was included in the designs.
The various elements of each building created new prototypes that were able to emerge the past understanding of architecture with new sets of creativity that added into a refined look and feel from the classical period. The different veins in which architects worked in during the modern period combined the futuristic elements with the classical foundations to emerge different structures conducive to the time frame.
A German architect Walter Gropius developed the Bauhaus style of architecture in 1919. In German, Bauhaus means “house of building” (Panayiotis 7). Walter’s appointment to head the Bauhaus Institution aimed to assist in rebuilding the country after the war. The Bauhaus style enveloped ideas in architecture, furniture, weaving, and topography.

This phenomenon had its roots in the Bauhaus school of design that first developed early in 20th century Germany under the enlightened patronage of the Wiemar Republic. This school of design and architecture attempted to marry the arts to the practical aspects of life.
The name of the building is Staatliche Bauhaus. However; Bauhaus is the name that most people use is Bauhaus. The name Bauhaus is a word in German that means the house of construction. Being that it was primarily meant to be a school; people fathomed the meaning of the building to mean school building. Bauhaus was set up in the year 1913.
Bauhaus was an arts institution that operated between 1919 to the end of 1933. The institution was founded by Walter Gropius and was located in Weimar. This paper shall critically analyze whether Bauhaus succeeded in merging art with mass production and technology what challenges they went through and if at all their ideals were limited.
