Some of the unusual names given to these tools of communication are Status updates, user profiles, Timelines, thumbs up, activity feeds, etc. Adolescent users form a large chunk of total online usage of these social networking websites, a Nationwide survey in 2009 proved that 73% of online teenagers use SNS, which was a major increase from previous years (Ahn, 2011).
The youth interaction with these online communities is a positive sign, in this epoch of scientific research and development, and social awareness; on the other hand, it also brings forth alarming concerns and entails issues such as privacy, psychological security, youth safety, social resources, etc. Cybercrimes are also on a rise, so parental guidance and scholarly wisdom is also essential requirement, so that teenagers use this new-age blessing for their maximum benefit and generate educational achievement and strive for strikingly creative outcomes, and avoid harm.

Educators these days have become increasingly familiar with the academic usage of these websites, in order to gain maximum student interaction and to make themselves accessible to their students regarding their projects and assignments. The scholars firmly believe that these interactive websites are an essential tool for learning new methods and modern terms and techniques, while on the other hand, the parents are concerned about their children’s social well-being and safety. These apprehensions can be fairly resolved through proper guidance and check. The teenagers are passing through a stage of growth, maturity and development and they are open to new forums and platforms, which also require innovative gadgets and modern tools of communication. These websites also help the youth create relationships, and social bonding, especially those who are otherwise shy and introverted in person. These interactive websites also help adolescents develop their personalities and self-esteem and prepare them to shine amid the tough competition ahead of them (Ahn, 2011). ...Download file to see next pages Read More
