Social networking websites were initially meant to help individuals all over the world connect with other people from different networks. These networks are organized by location, regions, workplace and schools so that the website’s users can interact with practically whoever he/she wishes. These websites are used by millions of people all over the world and their popularity has been integrated into the lifestyle of the people who use them. Websites such as Myspace.com and Facebook.com are most popularly used in North America, with website Nexopia.

com, being Canada’s favourite social networking website. South America on the other hand, prefer Orkut.com and Hi5.com. In Europe, popular websites include Bebo.com, Hi5.com, Myspace.com, Tagged.com, Skyrock.com and Xing.com. Meanwhile, users in Asia and other areas in the Pacific favour Friendster.com, Orkut.com, Cyworld.com and Xiaonei.co. As of the moment, Facebook has grown to be the number 1 social networking website in the world because of its interesting features. Myspace.com was considered to be the number 1 social networking website before Facebook.

To date, Myspace has more than 100 million people signed up, and 230,000 more people applying for membership. Facebook, on the other hand now has 1.2 billion visitors to its website, especially now that everyone from every age can sign up and have an account. Previously, Facebook was only open for college students, but since its ease on restrictions, it has most definitely surpassed Myspace, along with reports that even the Pope having his own account.
