Beautiful Creatures Movie Beautiful creatures a is a romantic movie that was directed by Richard LaGravenese that involves Ethan Wate who had a recurring dream about a mysterious young girl who would later be revealed as 16 year old beautiful and enigmatic Lena. Interestingly, Ethan falls in love with the girl who calls him severally in the dream. Ethan must have crazily fallen in love with Lena even before they met particularly when he listens to a song in his iPod that mentions dreaming and falling as well as being left with the girl’s smell of rosemary and lemons as he takes shower. As he leaves for school, he gets a ride from Link who was his best friend before they suddenly pass a black hearse on the way living Ethan to think that it is an omen seeing such kind of a creepy car in the small town like Gatlin. Ethan later learns of a new girl in the school and at lunchtime when he is seated with his fellow basketball players in the cafeteria, one of his friends Shawn Bishop points at the girl claiming that she is pretty hot before Emily says that the lady is Old man Ravenwood’s niece. Ethan could not help imagining dating anybody related to the town shut-in before he sees the hearse drive away with the girl on the wheel. Ethan then decides to pursue Lena up to their home where they talk a bit both telepathically and verbally as Lena idly shapes clouds in the air with her hands. They then share their love for books and poetry as they both admit that they had been dreaming of one another and that she is remaining with 151 days before she turns sixteen. Lena happened to be with Ethan in English class and she had a copy of Kill a Mockingbird a book that Ethan did not have and had read it long time ago yet it was Lena’s favorite book (LaGravenese Film). Emily Asher plays keep-away with Lena’s notebook before Ethan stands up for Lena and takes the notebook back to her and throws a snappy insult to Emily. While Ethan is driving his Beater, the headlights reflect off a pair of huge green eyes in the road and think that it is an animal first but then realizes that it is a person. Ethan gets out of the car and realizes that it was Lena and tells her that she is the girl from his dreams thus scaring Lena who even thinks he is drunk but later drives her home. The following day in English class discussion, Lena tries to talk about Kill Mockingbird in a way that makes Ethan feel like Lena was addressing him but the girls continue teasing Lena making them not even not to feel sorry when she is hurt (LaGravenese Film). The uneventful school day was not normal to Ethan and he lives for Lena’s home lying that he is going to the library as he seeks explanation about locket from Macon although Ravenwood does not seem happy. Ethan, Lena and Macon then decides to walk out where Ethan learns that Macon knows his mum and Macon advises Ethan later in the dark to keep the locket away before he (Macon) touches a candelabra which instantly lights up claiming that Ethan cannot protect Lena. Ethan drives Lena’s hearse for him to get home because Link dropped him off at Ravenwood as he wonders about Macon weirdness. He later tells Lena in the car how wonderful she is and that she is unbelievably different and these sweet words moves Lena to tears making Ethan to try to wipe those tears. Ethan then hears Lena’s voice that night as window rattles and shutters bang open and he finds Lena on the lawn where he finds out she is a caster. Ethan seem to be enjoying Lena’s company as they hang out at Greenbrier as she shows Ethan more of her charms and arrange to go out on an official date on Friday night. They seat at the back of the theatre to watch a horrible murder mystery but Ethan tries to behave himself even though they are in darkness and later Lena reaches Ethan’s pocket for more milk duds. Ethan does not seem scared of word going around that he is hanging with Lena and she even invites Lena to have lunch with him in the cafeteria before Ridley, who is Lena’s cousin comes to pick Ethan to the gathering day’s festivities at Ravenwood which Ethan attended (LaGravenese Film). At the gathering, Lena causes storm and she is relieved when she realizes that Ethan is not scared of the storm before the ceiling cracks and forms a heart shape while holding hands the following morning. Lena then reveals all the secrets about the Casters such failure to know birth names before they turn sixteen and further tells him that he is her first mortal friend. Interestingly, Ethan is not scared of the confessions and they enjoy kissing for the first time before pushing him away because she fears being Claimed Dark on her birthday (LaGravenese Film). Ethan is picked by Lena to go make out at the water tower before the two lovebirds decide to find out more about their families. He hears Lena carrying at night when he runs to help her until he spends again at Lena’s bedroom where they kiss. Lena is then invited at Ethan’s family and Ethan takes her back to her resident when Macon advises Ethan to stay beside and protect Lena. Mrs. Lincoln recruits a chunk of students to fight any unusual behavior or violence and Ethan refuses to join this group and he goes ahead to comfort her by squeezing her hands. He also defended her when she was being kicked out of school and a few days before her birthday, Lena faced many challenges but Ethan promised to stand by her and will not lose her to the dark. Six day before her birthday Lena suddenly stops conversation with Ethan and this prompts Ethan to visit her and she said that she stopped communication because she feared losing her. During the birthday party which included Civil War reenactment of the Battle of Honey Hill, Lena feels the shock of the curse being broken and runs off to Ethan clutching his dying body and lashes out in anger, sending lightning strikes to the crowd until Ethan transforms into Macon. She then causes the moon to disappear so that it cannot claim her for the dark which she successfully deed and claimed herself half dark, half-light caster. Ethan apologizes for not having known Lena well before she later recalls their memories together, call Lena’s name and Lena is freed from her dark side. Works Cited LaGravenese, Richard, dir.
