Poetry Introduction Poetry is divided into many genres each of these genres as partly shown in the poetry below approaches issues differently; while maintaining a connection hoping to bring out the true meaning in the best way. The poems portrayed below are in five different genres, each poem discussing a different heading; however it should be clearly noted that all the poems are a subsidiary of the speaker and the listener in the first topic in his quest to explain to the listener why he is in war. The paper then proceeds to critically analyze the suit for further elaboration. A soldier’s night Their teeth gnashed between themselves Their guns held on to their hands How we wish the sun would rise How we wish the enemy would run Fear for sure is a sad master He spoils the moment with a blustering quake Feed me with courage the soldier wish Come remind me to guide my fear Am in love don’t you forget Less you waste me in a freezing night And my dreams depart like flies I wish to warm my lover’s bed I am drying faster than I thought My comrade lies beside my boots I am left to protect his body To carry a message home to wife and child For his country he surely stood his ground His love for us cost his life Be silent they are coming now I can hear the roaring tanks Before long they will be close to me I will raise my gun and point In front of me a father or son One or the other will definitely be mourned If lucky I will get them both If unlucky they will get me first And down I will fall in a lifeless form Be silent my heart I can hear you pump Why are we here? Love of what, the girl? Explain? I come not because of the nation but because of the girls, What girls? The girls Explain this I saw a girl not as beautiful as the sunray But she stole my heart She just took it. Though her lips were twisted And her smile was gaping, I think of her not once endlessly. My friend, my friend, I am speaking to you This head and this particular heart are gone. Help me for she has refused me She has said no Explain this I saw a girl not as beautiful as the flower But she robbed me of my heart She just tore it from me and I followed her here, She is tall with a twisted character, Her hands are long they stretch beyond to reach for things; I mean with her nothing is too expensive I get it as desired. My friend, my friend, I am speaking to you, This head and this particular heart is mine no more Help me for she constantly leaves me for other men and women alike She has never said I love you to me Explain this I saw a married girl not as beautiful as a full moon But she took my heart She just swallowed it just like that Her long crippled legs run faster than the breath of light I mean when she comes to me she walks and when she goes from me she runs My friend, my friend, I am speaking to you I am in love; this girls money their names Tell me more what is love who is she Love the connection to the girls Love If life is without love it is unbearable So is a tree without leaves without hope Darkness has no place either So love overcomes Yes it always overcomes If we truly love ourselves Then darkness will not find rest in us Then we will be filled with life Then we will know the secret of life Love If the clouds gather together to give forth a storm And the star cluster together paint the sky How much more does love gather the good in us? How much more does it bring us life? Has it not given forth all wellness? Feed your soul with endless love Let it spoil those besides you Let them bath in its bliss Let the world breath from its lungs Be free of yourself just go love Like a trap set for a dear is a heart that has no love It is a point of death, a place of bitterness, a grave yard Blessed is the heart adorned by love, the real child of beauty Friend you speak of deep things now tell me what is beauty This I cannot explain but I can show. Beauty The beauty of the word speech Fully comes with our personal speech, Beyond the grassland give thy speech, Across the city recite thy speech, On the farmland repeat your speech Don’t mind the grave yard it’s a personal speech The beauty of the butterfly Fully comes when she fly Beyond the grassland fly Across the city parks fly On the farmland moorland fly Don’t mind the grave yard you just fly The beauty of the star shine Fully comes when darkness shine Beyond the grassland fear nothing shine Across the dark city rise and shine On the farmland ignore the workload shine Don’t mind the grave yard it quite take your moment and shine The beauty of the flower reign Fully comes when morning reign Beyond the grassland in splendid splendor reign Across the city halls dominate and reign On the farmland take charge and reign Don’t mind the grave yard it’s a bedroom reign The beauty of the coffins peace Fully comes with the grave yards peace Beyond the grasslands lie in peace Across the cities silent places be at peace On the farmland do you duty an keep thy peace My friend I pray you simplify Dictionary Keep dreaming dreams Plan wish and sing, Poverty or riches: beauty. Dogs endless barking The night is dark The stars: beauty. Greed corrupted minds Who stole the monkeys keep? Hideous leaders: beauty. Weddings lovers’ day Pregnancy pregnancies Babies the cycle: beauty Stop who are you? You come back? Shameless man, know your place: beauty. You wish for luck You wasting time Think, Work: beauty Life a slippery event, But what a beauty Achievements: beauty. Birds’ flying filling the sky: beauty Fish deep blue vast sea: beauty Laughter happiness: beauty Breath, silence, beauty, Hope, joy, beauty, Have you understood? Beauty Critical analysis A soldiers night is the beginning of the suit, the narrator starts by telling why his friend come to battle, but as he concludes this epic he points out to his listener he come because of the girls. This is the beginning of the girls an explanation of who they really are to this soldier as a result of whom he comes to war. As his explanation ends the listener seeks more, he wants to understand the connection between the girls who he now knows are the as money, and love. This begins the third poem Love, however at the end of this poem the listener is seen to be triggered by the statement, ‘Blessed is the heart adorned by love, the real child of beauty’ and so he seeks to understand what beauty is; which the soldier in question promises to show instead of explain. However the listener gets lost, and asks for a simplification resulting in the rise of the dictionary. The dictionary proceeds to define beauty to its ability. Regarding the matters of style the above suit of poems deals with the issue of money as a cause of war. In ‘A soldiers night the main speaker starts of as a second person; however as he completes his narration the second speaker who the poem identifies as a listener appears. This opens the door so that one can easily see the conflict between love and war coming together in a soldiers mind. The poem applies the use of metaphors and imagery to build the narrative applying symbolism to recreate feelings of the characters. As noted before the emergence of the girls is as a result of questions asked by the listener. This poem is a drama poem, defined more by its passive tone. To push this point the speaker repeats the specific words, as a reminder of his woes in with the aim of expanding the metaphorical twist in every stanza. The poem ignores the structures of most poems;each line starts exactly like in former stanza but ends differentlybalancing the rhyme whose main purpose is to build a consistent feeling of action. Following in line is the issue of Love this is brought forth as a spiritual poem, about love more than a love poem; however it manages to win itself a Didactic face as it seems to teach about love and its benefits to the broader life of a person. It through this poem that the speaker opens our way to issue of beauty in the Beauty poem is which is lyrical type; it works hard to express its contents in a manner that maintains the rhyme while at the same time maintaining the topic of interestthe speaker. Finally the suit ends with the Dictionary which starts by indulging with dreams in a casual manner that is seen across the reading. In this poem tension is observed to rise as a result of a moral stand to different persons. Conclusion The genres of poetry have consistently been seen to grow more and more diverse. The five poems above are a small sample of the countless ways that poetry can be used to educate and express our thoughts. Through this the paper not only shows different poems but also goes ahead to criticize the paper to explain it strategy of communication. Read More
