CREATIVE THINKING ENGAGEMENT PORTFOLIO by Student’s name Code + course name Student’s name Professor’s name City, State Date Week 2: To What Extent Am I a Creative Thinker? Creating thinking is the manner of viewing circumstances or problems from a new dimension that might give rise to something that either solves the problem or, something that is valuable or, new (Lau 2011). As such, I am a creative thinker in different ways. First, whenever I come across a new or old difficult problem like solving a mathematics equation, I always think of multiple ways of solving it. I first define the problem accurately and begin trying different ways of solving it. I do not necessarily wholly rely on the normal ways of solving it, but I also try new ideas of tackling it. The other way I am a creative thinker is through offering innovative ideas like when working in groups in class. Whenever our group is faced with a problem that appears difficult to solve I normally strive my best in finding successful solutions. For example, when our group is required to produce advertising posters for a new product that students have invented, I provide sound ideas of producing the posters. As such, I suggest that we include the product’s beautiful image, brief and precise description, manufacturer's contacts, and place's availability among others. I also suggest the poster include that the first ten people who would contact the manufacturer would be offered the product for free and it would be delivered to their homes. Week 3: An Example of Creative Thinking in the World around Me An example of creative thinking in the world around me is when I am learning a topic on setting up a business. As such, I open a business book and start reading the topic. I write the ideas in a paper in an organic and associative pattern beginning with the major thought in the center’s page and radiate out in the entire directions, utilizing lines to link associated ideas. A certain pattern or order comes out within the lines linking correlated thoughts within the group. Since it entails both visual layout and words, mind mapping employs both the right and left brains’ hemispheres, contributing to an extra imaginative and holistic thinking style (Green 2015). Mind mapping helps me to know how well I would manage my future business. It also gives me the feelings of setting up the business such as my interests of setting the business. Mind mapping also assists me in being creative as I set up the business. As such, I become capable of developing new ideas and various alternatives necessary for the business’s growth. I also become capable of knowing the problems that the business would possibly face and therefore find the best solutions for solving it. Moreover, I become capable of knowing the various ways of expanding my business. Further, I learn how to survive in the current dynamic market that is comprised of aggressive competitors Week 4: an example of the Use of Creative Thinking in My Chosen Profession An example of the use of creative thinking in my chosen profession is organizing how to get my dream job. After schooling, I aspire to become a marketing officer in a blue chip company. As such, I am working hard to both understand my chosen course and brilliantly pass my examinations. During holidays, I have planned to be working voluntarily in various organizations as a marketer. As such, I would be using the theory learned in school to market such companies’ products and images physically. I intend to be working with both experienced and inexperienced employees in the marketing field. I would be asking for help whenever I would encounter any difficulties during working. I would inform the managements of my willingness to work with them after completing my studies (Streep 2014). I would be leaving behind my contacts to the management after the voluntary work. During internship, I would target working with one manufacturing blue chip company. I would combine both pieces of knowledge gained from books and experience obtained from various organizations in my internship. I would try to achieve the company's set marketing goals to the best of my gained professionalism. I would also express my willingness of joining the company after completing school. After school, I would craft an inclusive resume for applying for jobs. As such, I would highlight my skills and experience in an understandable manner. I would search jobs in the media, internet and in companies having not advertised vacant posts. Week 5: An Example of the Creative Use of Social Media An example of the creative use of social media is inviting many people to a music competition. As such, I would create a facebook page for inviting the audience and music groups. In the page, I would include beautiful guitars, saxophones, drums, microphones, musicians, music notes, costumes, and other many other musical instruments (LePage 2014). I would also include, the venue, entry, prizes, free Wi-Fi availability, participant groups, master of ceremony, time, contacts, age, date, charges (if any), hall capacity, and parking size among others. Afterward, I would send invites to as many people as possible. After every facebook member accept my invite, I would welcome him/her to the event and ask him/her to invite his/her friends. When the day of the event draws closer, I would begin reminding people of the event and persuade them to come to the event with one of their friends or relatives I would even call some people and remind them of the coming event. Before the event’s date, I would enquire the invited people to confirm their coming. During the music competition day, I would remind each and everybody to avail themselves in the event. During the competition day, I would inform people who would have arrived that there is a free Wi-Fi. I will also ask them to kindly inform their friends that they have already arrived at the event using their phones or tablets. Week 6: A Personal Reflection on the Seated Buddha The carved depiction of the Seated Buddha seems to be made from smooth, dark stone distinctive in Pala sculpture (Seated Buddha 2015). Buddha was a powerful and influential being during the ancient times. The sculpture is carved having both legs folded while seating down. His right hand is on the earth. His left-hand rests on his folded legs. The Buddha is seen to be wearing a smiling face. There are no indications of the Buddha having won clothes. This forms an indication that the sculpture was carved by artists dated several years ago when people wore no clothes. The Buddha appears to be in a holy place like a temple. This displays that even the early people used to worship their God in one way or the other. Thus, according to history, religion is dated several years ago. The ancient people also appear to have a destined place of worship. This can be evidenced by the beautifully incised walls behind where Buddha is seated. The Buddha is seated on a higher level than the floor of the worshipping place. This portrays power above the people who believe in him. The Buddha has long hairs which seem to be interwoven. This shows the early times when people used not to be shaved off their hair. The figure has a most extraordinary feature of being decoratively incised at the back. Such designs are mostly seen at the Tibetan metals that are used in holding prayers, relics together with other sanctified objects. Week 7: How I used Creative Thinking in another Insearch Subject I used creative thinking in treating one of my friends who had an ear infection. My friend complained of having pain in the ear sometimes, a situation that used to make him feel very uncomfortable. In order to provide help, I searched the internet what would have been causing the problem. I searched the information in the authorized sources like books and peer-reviewed journals. I found that the ear infection could be treated using Penicillin V Potassium Oral (Pocket Books 2009). As such, I rushed to the pharmacy and bought a dose of Penicillin V Potassium. The dose was in tablets form. I read the prescriptions carefully and ensured they followed the recommendations from the pharmacist. It was recommended that the patient should swallow a tablet after every eight hours daily. I advised my friend to swallow the first tablet with a glass full of water The dose was supposed to be completed in four days. Though my friend began feeling well, he forgot to swallow a tablet one moment of the day. When he asked me what to do, I told him since the following moment's dose was almost with us, to skip it and continue with the normally scheduled dosage. I had seen in that prescription internet. After completing the full dose, my friend totally recovered. Week 8: The Strengths and Weaknesses of My Creative Engagement Portfolio My first strength of the creative engagement portfolio was the using of the obtained knowledge in understanding the course, finding a dream job, using social media and treating my ailing colleague. My other strength was the capability of using the internet to develop important and creative ideas. As such, I used my knowledge to search important information concerning what I always intended to do. My other strength was the capability to understand what was being taught in class and what I learned on my own. This would help me to practice at work what I have learned theoretically in class. My first weakness was the inability to write down the required information fast in the books. As such, my low writing speed normally made me lose morale of continuing reading. My second weakness was addressing a large group of people. As such, I found difficulties in raising important points in group work as I have a low sound tone and I am shy. My other weakness was the inability to narrow down the required information quickly. As such, I normally take some time before filtering the most important facts from the offered information. My other weakness is handling my colleagues who were not concentrating during group work. References 2015, Seated Buddha. Viewed 14 April 2016 .
