Question What do you expect in a college education, and how will it help you to succeed in life I have an immense passion for the art of graphicdesign and so in this next stage of my life in pursuing a college education, I would like to focus my attention in this field of study. Subsequently, I plan to use my college education to move into a career in graphic design. My most pertinent expectation in a college degree is the ability of the program to teach me the basic, and then the advanced designing skills needed to excel in my subsequent working life.

In college, I will have the opportunity to learn from the best teachers and to make mistakes in a setting that appreciates the fact that making mistakes is the best learning experience. I also believe that a valuable college education is not just about books and lectures, but it is also a four year discovery journey that will help mould my personality in terms of getting along with classmates, working effectively with others, and to be business savvy. In order to succeed in life, a person cannot live in a vacuum, and a college environment encourages team work.

This is a perfect environment to allow me to fully understand my strengths and weaknesses, and to then develop the business and interpersonal skills needed beyond conceptual design in order to succeed in a competitive market. In essence, I believe the important combination of academic and real-life skills acquired from a college education will help me succeed in life. Question 2List three of your strengths, explain how they will help you succeed in school and in life. I believe three of my strengths are passion, perfectionism, and perseverance.

Throughout my student and personal life, I have approached all projects and plans with passion, and I believe it is this passion that has allowed me to enjoy what I do and subsequently to do them well. Entering college, I will continue to pursue my passion for graphic designing, and I have no doubt that the proper academic guidance from an established institution will steer me towards a fulfilling career. Although I pursue my academic and life goals with passion, the approach is by no means rigid.

In the process, I explore different aspects that would have value-added benefits, and to have a "perfect" end-result. By this, I suggest an outcome that would complement my personality and work and study ethics. In order to succeed in school and in life, I will have to work with different people from varying backgrounds and cultures. Here, the ability to persevere and to not lose sight of an objective is vital. I am open to new ideas and influences and am also quick to adapt to changing environments.

In his book "Becoming Designers," Dudley (2000, p. 83) believes that although conceptual abilities are crucial in determining the success of a designer, he also recognizes the fact that "creativity, communications, problem-solving skills, paying attention to details, (and) self-discipline" are also important. With this in mind, I believe that my three strengths have been and will continue to help me succeed in school and in life. ReferenceDudley, E. (2000), "Becoming Designers," Intellect Books, New York.
