Carbon Nanotube can be used as a basic building block for future electronics. Beginning from the huge valves to transistors, the integrated circuit era proved to be an important milestone in the circuit technology. Integration of Carbon Nanotube is another such technology which could change the world around us. This technology works with an intention of building machines on the scale of molecules. Though it’s an emerging field and experiments are still going on, but the ripples are being felt by all the applications like humanities, chemistry, medicine, biotechnology, space explorations, nuclear science etc.

Through this study I’ve tried to analyze the important features of nanotechnology in general and Carbon Nanotube in particular. During the study, an effort has been made to correlate ongoing researches in the field and the available data from such sources. Some of the applications of nanotechnology are indeed far beyond the imagination and comprehension of a normal human being. To think that one day we’ll be able to make a rope-way for Mars and Moon or we’ll be able to put such a paint on the walls of our house that no dirt particles would henceforth be able to hang on the walls.

Effectively repairing the crushed human bones and joints with ease, preparing superconductors and excessive heat bearing material are some of the purported applications of Carbon Nanotube. Underlining the importance of carbon in the universe, Henning and Salama (1998) contend that more than 75% of the 118 interstellar and circumstellar molecules identified to date are C-bearing molecules. Nanotechnology is another such path-breaking use of carbon atom. Nanotechnology is the technology dealing with Nanometers i.e. dealing with 10-9th part of a meter, exploring the properties of matter at such levels and then devising their appropriate applications.

Richard Feynman the famous noble prize winner physicist said, "The principles of physics, as far as I can see, do not speak against the possibility of maneuvering things atom by atom. It is not an attempt to violate any laws; it is something, in principle, that can be done; but in practice, it has not been done because we are too big."
