Introduction
While the Job market is growing thin and the changes in technology are pushing for new ways of applying for the Jobs as well as new methods of undertaking the interviews, the job seeker is faced with many challenges/problems of adjusting to all the changes. In addition employers are engaging in cost friendly methods of advertisement, recruiting/selection, and interviewing its recruiters as they seek employment is various organizations (Hax, 2009). The recruitment process takes several steps to be completed and since this is an important process for both the employer and the employee and in most cases the employee since he(s) is the one who wants to get the awaited Job that could be extensively competitive, the Job seeker has to learn the new ways and strategies of making applications as well as skills on how to take part in interviews. For this reason this paper seeks to describe the best way under employee’s perspective that can help Job seekers drive into successful Careers (Beyers, 2010).
The first step in wanting to make a job application is to search properly for the needed job. Determining the Job that best suits the Job seeker. The job search could be located from newspapers, the internet or through posters. The Job hunter should be able to determine the type of Job he/she wants by first reading through the job requirements and the Job description provided in the Job advert. The seekers should take note that in the contemporary world most of the employers don’t advertise their vacancies using the media since they fear getting many applications that seems to be a burden to sort for the best candidates to shortlist for the interviews. Thus they have resorted to the use of employment agencies and online websites to advertise the opportunities. Job searching is considered as the primary step of successful application for an employment position (Beyers, 2010).
The nest step after Job searching is an analysis of the position that the potential employee has identified. Before making an application for position at any given organization it is the due responsibility of the Job seeker to read through the advertisement and analyzing the position description. The following questions have to be addressed when analyzing the position description: the seeker should be able to evaluate if he/she has the educational qualifications, experience and skills, and the personal qualities that are needed for the position; a careful evaluation is the position suits the goals and values of the Job seeker; what ways to use to contact the employer to find out more about the position; the need of undertaking a research concerning the position. After answering all the above questions the Job seeker ought to make an application for the position if he/she meets the above qualifications, skills and abilities (Lloyd, 1990).
Preparing a Job application is considered as a time consuming process since the quality and content of the formally presented application are the determining factor of whether the potential employee will be shortlisted or not for an interview for the position. When preparing the application for the position, the applicant should be able to make a formal written application or feel online forms as required by employers in the Job market. Other documents that are considered as supporting papers need to accompany the application. A cover letter is one of the documents that need to be submitted and for a successful application the letter should be able to meet certain standards: the letter should be able to follow the AIDA formula since it is a helpful approach used for writing application either on paper or through email. Well organized and planned letter has a more chance of arousing the potential employer and make him to have an interest in an employee’s application- enough to grant for an interview (Hax, 2009). The letter should also have an excellent first impression and should be very brief in nature. Furthermore, it should persuade the potential employer to consider an application. In case of form filling the applicant is expected to think before answering the questions. The Job seeker should be able to mention the resume from time to time as a supportive explanation of the application to avoid wordiness in the online form. Copies of relevance should be attached this include academic qualifications as well as a copy of the resume or CV. Applications should be submitted on before the expiry dates, but it is always advised that the applicant should not wait to send the application on the last days if the application is not an online application due to mechanical and physical problems that can make the application to reach on a later date (Beyers, 2010).
After a careful made application the potential employee has the obligation of preparing for an interview. As much as the application process of recruitment is a key and complex process, an interview can be considered to be the most complex process as it calls for oral presentation of ideas as well as verification of all that was written. The first step in preparing for an interview is researching the organization background and profile this helps the interviewee by evaluating his future goals and plans. This will also make the interview with in-depth knowledge about the organizations that he/she is seeking work from hence increasing his confident when answering questions (Francisco, 2011). The second step in preparing for a job interview is by thinking about the questions that the potential employee will ask the interviewer for actively taking part in the interview gives a good impression on the interest of employment. The other step is by practicing with friends so that you can be able to get used with the structure of the interview. During the interview day it is important that one dressing in the most appropriate way depicted by the nature of job for example an office Job calls for executive dressing but for sports position needs one to be in sports attire. Lastly, the interview should be able to be courteous to every person during the interview so as to solicit the confidence of all.
