Subjected to various influences and economic drivers, the adoption of an appropriate career profile is recognised to be very important for self-development, particularly when considered from an individualistic perspective. It is this particular requisite that makes the proper use of networking channels quite important to address the specific job profile, to suffice the need of the chosen career option. Based on my personal experience, I do support this notion positively. When identifying an appropriate career option, I had to face a large number of challenges as well as confusions perhaps owing to the similarities borne by my chosen career field of a corporate lawyer and other advisory professional roles. However, gradually I have been able to overcome all these challenges and the confusions I was facing, with the adoption of a particular career path and the most fruitful channels through which, I could select the job profile I was most interested about (Zimmerman, 2000). On the verge of completing my education, I wished for a job profile of a lawyer in a reputed company, which would have been a very prestigious position for any committed youth. With this intention, I began to search for jobs after the final exams of my course were over and I had no compulsion to invest my time into regular studies. Though I had decided to do a job, but as I found, the market conditions of a job was very crucial in nature. My nervousness increased when I learnt that many of my friends and relatives were going through a phase of unemployment or dissatisfaction in their job profile, as they had chosen a wrong career option. However, their failure helped me understand that choosing the correct career option was very essential to gain satisfaction in life. I did not however lose the hope of being selecting by a very good firm in a respective position, as I was confident enough on my skills (Zimmerman, 2000). Hence, I started to search for good options of jobs within the market through various channels of media and my friend circles, for the post of a lawyer in the corporate. I began following the daily newspaper articles to identify the actual rate of available vacancies within the market. Apart from this, reading the news articles I have gained knowledge about the ongoing interviews in several companies. Moreover, I also registered my profile with a large number of online jobs consulting services websites, which would automatically send me the best match for my career as I had wished. It will be worth mentioning that most of interred calls that I have received was from the online job consulting websites, which certainly proved beneficial for me to select from a wide range of options in choosing my intended career path. As I wished to become a corporate lawyer in a reputed firm, I also submitted my resume to several law firms of the region with hope of expecting an interview call from those companies. This further increased my chance of facing interviews and boosted my confidence. Stating honestly, I had a perception that the job opportunities for corporate lawyers are minimal. However, the calls that I was receiving and the immense opportunity for my chosen career field became more aspiring to me, when I obtained a practical understanding of the scenario. To be mentioned in this context, I also used my personal sources for obtaining information relating to job interviews, as I had friends in various job positions in renowned corporate organisations and could also take their referrals to any vacancies arising in their organisations. As a coincidence, few of my friends were employed in HR consulting firms, who also led me their hands for help in searching for my chosen career path. Reasons for Selecting the Job of a Lawyer in Shell Petroleum Plc During the educational career in legal studies, I had a dream of becoming a corporate lawyer in a reputed multinational company that would widen my exposure to the global field and provide me greater opportunity to gain success. Thus, when I received interview calls from multinational companies, I had been very much excited for the attending interviews in those organisations. Coincidentally indeed, I came across an advertisement and was assured by my friend in a job-consulting firm too that Shell Petroleum Plc was recruiting for corporate lawyer. I then decided to mail my resume to the id provided by the company and within a few days, was greeted by a call from the human resource team of the company. Besides, being a legal adviser of the company, I would have the privilege to serve one of the most prestigious posts in the corporate world. Thus, on receiving an interview call from the company, I began with all required preparations to appear for the interview. In this interview, my skills as well as confidence were tested from various perspectives. Correspondingly, I also had to undergo a large number of knowledge tests, which helped me reflect strengths of my cognitive abilities, which I could use for the benefit of the organisation (University of Essex, 2015). As I could learn through my research on the company, Shell Petroleum Plc possesses a very good reputation within the industry. Hence, the job opportunity within Shell Petroleum Plc will be responsible for developing the value of my career. I also expected that working in Shell Petroleum Plc could become a turning point of my career growth as a corporate lawyer within the industry (The Shell Global, 2013). Date:……………………………………. Dear Mr. Coates, As I read about Shell U.K. Limited’s legal training program in a legal college graduate magazine, I decided to inquire about the possibilities of opening in your organisation. I will be highly fortuned as well as interested also in learning about your company as well as the possible opportunities that I shall obtain on responding to the vacancy. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Common Professional Legal practice. I have also successfully completed my Diploma in Corporate Professional Legal Practice. I also have obtained an experience in legal practices in a reputed law firm of Dagenham, as a legal associate as well as a professional practitioner. In addition, I have completed my internships from a reputed law firm, which provide me with a basic knowledge about the corporate law proceedings, further increasing my interest in the field. My resume, which I enclosed includes a large number of additional information about my experiences as well as skills. I would like to appreciate the opportunity to discuss about occupational programmes with you as well as to provide further information on my application. Thank you for your time as well as consideration. I look forward to speaking with you about this exciting opportunity. Sincerely, Augustine Nwabueze Use of Contemporary Educational Model During the educational phase of my life, I came to understand that the concept of management is not only important for organisations, but also has its profound impression in the life of every human being today. For instance, along with my educational life, I also have a distinct personal life as well as a professional life, where I have to maintain a few responsibilities and thus, have to manage my distinct roles effectively. I am very participative in nature. I have always tried to participate in various extracurricular activities. This participative nature always helped me to get the opportunity of exposure both in the social as well as cultural domains. I believe that the social as well as cultural exposures add to one’s personality features as one of the most positive factors for developing knowledge relating to all cultural as well as social activities. On the other hand, I have also paid focus on my studies as well (Dupeyrat & Mariné, 2005). In this regard, I have decided to adopt the contemporary educational model, which will provide me with support in developing requisite strategies to maintain a balance between two phases of my life style. By applying the strategy I have also understood that people belonging to every educational background or any other professional background should have the mindset of adopting the contemporary educational model that can be helpful in maintaining a balance between worklife or professional life along with personal life (Boys & et. al., 2015). At the initial stage of educational background in the Angela Ruskin University, I have been facing many obstacles in my educational as well as personal developmental growth. When in school I was able to manage to maintain a balance between studies as well as participate in several extracurricular activities. However, after joining for the Legal educational program, I faced certain problems to manage my personal life as well as professional life. However, I did not lose hope. I kept trying to maintain a balance between my personal commitments as well as my professional life, as I adopted a small number of strategies (Dupeyrat & Mariné, 2005). For instance, I prepared my schedule as per my understanding of the timing of University classes. I started waking up early in the morning and follow a fitness regime to maintain myself fit as well as healthy, so I was able to participate in several sports too. I also played football after completing my classes from University, which provided me with a degree of relaxation (Winkler, 2013). In my daily routine, I also tried to complete my studies earlier than the scheduled deadline, which not only helped me ensure that my work was done properly but also gave me grace time to participate in several functions taking place within the community. I participated in several cultural programmes organised within our society. Apart from this, I also loved to participate in the cultural programs of the university. Due to my participative nature, I have always been the first preference as a performer of all the members of my cultural department in the society. I have also participated in large numbers of cultural activities of the happening within the university (Boys & et. al., 2015). Improving of Knowledge through the Working Field After attending the job interview in Shell Petroleum Plc, I have been absorbed by the company. Being appointed as a member of the legal team of Shell Petroleum Plc, I believe to have gained substantial knowledge regarding the practical application of the concepts I learnt. More appropriately, it can be stated that my working style is more relative with the learning while earning. On entering in the organisation, I felt to only possess little bookish knowledge. During the initial stage of my career, I was able to learn about many practical cases those can be helpful for developing my knowledge further as well as building my working career (Winkler, 2013). During the initial stage of my career, I was under going through frequent training processes. It will be worth mentioning in this context that the robust training provided by the company has been creating a major influence on the development of my knowledge related to my chosen career field. During my joining in Shell Petroleum Plc, I have been facing a high level of legal shifting. It was owing to these shifts that I had to also face a small number of confusions relating to my understanding of the newly implemented laws within the company. However, gradually the effective training system provided me with substantial knowledgeable support to build my career as well as knowledge on a gradual basis (Dupeyrat & Mariné, 2005). During the initial stage of my unemployment, I have been paying more focus over finding the good positioned job for myself. With this objective, I decided to perform a research on market analysis over the job sector. Simultaneously, I have also performed the official registration with many large HR consultancy firms as well as job portals, who have been functioning both in the local and the global markets. I also used my personal sources to widen the volume of suitable job options for myself. Besides, I have also started reading news letters as well as economic journals to obtain more information relating to job vacancies and the requisites of corporate laws. However, I must mention that being conscious of my selection, I have found many information relating to job opening, from which I was selective to send my resume to any company. During the application of any job, I have submitting my resume along with an impressive cover letter. It will be worth mentioning that an impressive cover letter can be a key influencer of depicting the actual personality of the applicant (Boys & et. al., 2015). More specifically, it can be elaborated that I have some positive qualities, which is useful for depicting my abilities of work. It must also be stated that I always beard a management concept in my nature. I always tried to maintain my job responsibilities with my personal obligations. I always try to create a distinction between my personal life as well as professional life. In this regard, I have made few strategies to develop my personal life as well as my professional life with the accordance (Lewis, n.d.). References Boys, S. K. & et. al., 2015.
