Institution affiliation Introduction Omani is an oil-rich state located in the Middle East. The country is a hub for many companies and businesses among them profit and nonprofit companies. These companies are either state owned, owned by citizens or are foreign firms including several multinational companies. Due to its richness of the oil resource, petroleum and gas companies are lucrative to invest in. This documentary is going to feature two organizations one being a profit and the other a non-profit making organization. AMIDEAST is an American non-profit organization (AMIDEAST n.d,) whereas Oman LNG is the profit making organization (HOME n.d). AMIDEAST engages in education, development activities and training in North Africa and Middle East. Oman LNG Company deals in liquefied natural gas. AMIDEAST’s mission is based on “strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the people of the Middle East and North Africa” (AMIDEAST n.d). Oman’s LNG company vision and mission statements are, “The Best at What We do” and “To produce, market and deliver LNG safely, reliably and profitably; To develop our business and employees to their full potential; and To be a trusted partner in the sustainable development of Oman and its people”, respectively.(HOME nd). AMIDEAST is a charitable trust started in 1951(AMIDEAST n.d). Oman LNG is a limited liability company under ownership of the Government of Oman (51%) and other shareholders such as Royal Dutch Shell (30%), Total S.A (5.54) and Korea LNG (5%) among others. The liability of a limited liability company is shared amongst the shareholders according to their shareholding capacity (Oil 2010). Each entity in the LLC joint venture is required to prepare its financial report, and prepare their tax return. Public charitable organizations are limited to charitable activities that are non-profitable, and all donations should be utilized solely for the purpose of accomplishing the organization’s activities (Ouden 2012). Various stakeholders in the AMIDEAST and Oman LLC organization include the staff and directors, the Oman Government, the beneficiaries of the organization’s activities, partners such as suppliers of materials, and financial solutions such as banking and donators. These stakeholders both have influence over and are influenced by the way the activities of the organization they belong to are run. The staff and directors actively execute the day to day activities of the organization (Ouden 2012). Realization of the organization’s purpose is dependent on how the directors and staff run it. When this team is determined and fully focused on the success of the organization, through hard work, discipline and determination the success can be achieved. Synergy between the different levels of staff is crucial to this success as do the innovativeness of each member to enable them successfully handle challenges related to the organization’s purpose. The Oman Government holds a prominent place in ensuring that the political, business and economic environments are favorable for running any business. The government is also mandated to devise laws and foresee their enactment to ensure that all the interests of various stakeholders in either business are justly met (Oil 2010). A charity organization depends on donations from well wishers (Ouden 2012). Well-wishers may include individuals, other organizations or corporations, and government bodies. Such provide the financial base of the organization without which there would be no realization of the organization’s purpose. Shareholders in the Oman LLC form the source of finances required to meet the purpose of the company. Share holders determine how much the company can attain through the pooling of members’ contributions and employing these resources to run its activities and make profits. The target groups in the AMIDEAST organization who are the beneficiaries of the charity organization impact positively when such funds are adopted in a community. Suppliers of goods and services are another essential group of stakeholders. Each of these organizations requires various products and services such as transportation of staff or goods, supply of consumables or fixed assets and services such as banking and insurances (Ouden 2012). The Oman LNG organization is governed by various boards or committees constituted from its staff, shareholders or outsourced from elites holding knowledge in the respective expertise. These governing bodies include the Board of Directors, the Shareholder’s Committee, Board Committees, Company’s Management, and The Shareholders. AMIDEAST, on the other hand, is governed by a narrower size of folks namely The Board of Directors, Senior and Junior Staff Members (Ouden 2012). The highest body of governance, the Board of Directors of both organizations has the overall mandate to ensure proper running of the organizations with the aim of ensuring that through their good governance the purpose of each organization is met. Members of the Boards of Directors are tasked to coordinate and oversee the activities of this organization. These make organizational policies and see to it that these and other existing policies are executed to enable the organizations attain their goals and purpose. The Board of Directors makes one of the governing bodies and represents the organization in various national and international levels. Since there are no shareholders in the AMIDEAST non-profit organization, there are no shareholders' governing bodies AMIDEAST. Members of the staff make the other section of governance within this organization. Senior members allocate, delegate and supervise the actions of their junior staff members to ensure a smooth flow of command and ensuring the company’s purpose is met (Ouden 2012). The shareholders and board committees are tasked to carry out supervisory and coordination purposes. They also have a mandate to allocate tasks to some departments of the organization. The organization’s management supervises, coordinates and allocates responsibilities in the daily running of the LNG Company. The different bodies all work synergistically with the same aim of ensuring that the organization’s goals and purpose are met (Ouden 2012). The various classes of stakeholder have diverse points of view that are based on their expectations. The beneficiaries of the AMIDEAST organization views may be the increase of support to reach more needy members of the community. This matches the objectives and aims of the organization; to reach as many members as possible (Oil 2010). The government and the community reap from the advantages derived from the charities delivered to the subject population. To the company, this demonstrates a fulfillment of their objectives to reach out to as many needy beneficiaries as possible. Shareholders in the Oman LNG company are always optimistic of better profits to reflect in their dividends. Making more profits is a cornerstone of every profit making company. Donors for the AMIDEAST may realize success or failure through the achievements recorded by the organization whereby value for their money is either realized or not realized (Ouden 2012). The public and the government expect better service provisions from organizations, and this is a crucial objective for every company. The quality and ease of access of services offered by the Oman LNG to the members of the public will reflect whether or not the value of their money is worth the services. The aggressiveness of a company is a tool that stakeholders can use to gauge the performance of the organization in maximizing profits. Oman LNG search for new markets and partners is evidence for its aim to maximize profits (Ouden 2012). During times of economic or financial stress, both the profit and non-profit making organization have to devise ways that will enable them to breakeven and survive the ordeal. References AMIDEAST.
