Correspondingly, in order to achieve the broader goals of the business organizations, it has become vital for them to access relevant information and knowledge. In this regard, business intelligence has emerged as a new field that has intrigued scholars across the globe to engage in research activities, to acquire a more comprehensive understanding regarding the emerging field of business intelligence. In general, business intelligence is claimed to be an umbrella concept that encompasses tools, techniques, and solutions, which the managers can use to determine problems and related solutions.

More specifically, the term ‘Business Intelligence’ is considered as the integration and application of human cognitive faculties and artificial intelligence technologies in order to make decisions for addressing the problems and challenges faced by the management of the business. In the modern era, the business intelligence system has been ascertained to be implemented by numerous organizations across industries, encompassing a wide range, such as banking and financial industry, retail industry, telecommunication industry.

In addition, implementation of the business intelligence system is largely apparent in the context of international ventures and the multinational corporations of the 21st century (Rouhani, Asgari & Mirhosseini, 2012; Ranjan, 2009). Five fundamental features make up the structure of this literature review. At the onset, definition and common dynamics of business intelligence are presented. This presentation mainly includes the meaning of business intelligence and the primary features of business intelligence.

This information will aid in understanding the fundamentals of business intelligence necessary for structuring the subsequent sections of this study. In subsequence, the discussion regarding the historical evolution of business intelligence has been outlined.
