Opportunity ment The high incidence of high school dropouts opened the door for the company to expand its educational service offering to attendthe needs of the community.
Organizational structure
The executive in charge of this project must carefully plan out the steps and the protocols the project will follow. The program is a great opportunity to bring together a group of teenagers that need to change their way of thinking and their current habits. The student body is not the typical child that attends school. All the students failed to pass high school which implies they were not good students, had discipline problems, and had health issues, family issues among other bad situations. These kids needs to be screen by a psychologist and social works to determine if they need continued therapy to help them deal with the things in life that have not allowed them to integrate into their community as productive members of society. The organizational structure of this program must include both curricular and mandatory extracurricular activities. These kids need to acquire self-respect by getting involved in community service, sporting activities, and professional development seminars and discussion after school with other member of the community.
Environmental Factors
The community the program will establish itself in needs to find a way to attract employers in order to improve the economic status of the community. If there were after one year 1000 newly trained workers hungry to apply their newly acquire skills many multinational companies and other domestic business entities may be entice to established operation in this region. It is the job of the people in charge of this program to network through different channels with political pull to create an economic incentive package that can be used to provide an array of special incentives to bring business into the area. It is important to remember that this program serves the social function of prevent deviant behavior among teenagers who have a high risk profile to enter into the subterranean economy. These young people need the assistance of the state to get ahead in life and improve the economic condition the old fashion way, through hard work.
The high dropout rate and the alarming escalation of the problem which tripled in a short period of time is social issue that requires the government to intervene to stop the epidemic. Once establish in order to expand the program and improve the quality of the service offer more funds will be needed. An important stakeholder that must be targeted is the private industry. Funds can be obtained from local businesspeople who would love to have a fresh new pool of talented workers available. If more labor is available a business can expand its operation since there is a high supply of skillful laborers. The program has plenty of benefits for the community, but there are also risks associated with the project. For example if the success rate of the project is low the community will lose money they could have spend of something else, this situation is commonly referred to as opportunity cost (Varian, 2003).
Another potential risk of the project is that the students these trouble student get together to form a type of gang in the that once united may impose trouble on the entire community or that internal friction can may lead to fights, discussion and other illicit activity within the school campus. This in social terms could be consider a type of segregation of trouble kids in order to get them out of the street into a control environment. If the project is analyzed from this point of view one could say the program is unethical. Despite the examples of potential risk mentioned, the benefits of this project outweigh the risk by a large margin.
Human Resources
It is important to choose the right combination of educational professional to staff this project. The students that will enroll in either a skills or vocational program are young minds that need tender care. They need motivation in order to excel in any type of educational program. The teachers must be instill discipline in these kids, while at the same time showing them respect and emphasizing the importance of the program since their future immediate well being depends on it. The economics of the workplace is basic information these kids must learn. The value of work and the compensation rate they can earn if they obtain a certificate a particular area can motivate the kids since they can visualize the reward at the end of the tunnel. The basic skills program can help students obtain the time of educational credentials they need to achieve college entrance. The teachers in the program have to find ways to inspire this group of kids so that their new educational experience can end up becoming a path towards better things in their adult lives.
There is a budget constraint which limits the decision makers of the project as far as their capability to recruit top talent for the positions that are soon opening up. In order to get the talent needed the non-financial rewards associated with the job openings must be advertised. The teachers and trainers as well as the other staff members will have the unique opportunity to help a group of young people that if not reached early will end up having limited opportunities within our society. The financial rewards may be fixed, but the company can offer special bonuses beyond year 2 to up the offer in the long term if a professional commits to the program and the initiative is successful.
