Challenges of globalization and global information system In the wake of technological advancement, the world has transformed into a global village. People continue to embrace technology from different fronts ranging from the education sector and most importantly information technology (Yap, 2012, p. 47). The overarching effect of technology reigns through globalization, which has improved communication and connectedness. It is the process of worldwide integration due to changing worldviews, ideas, and products as well as other aspects of cultures. It represents an advancement in telecommunication and transport systems, which remove any barrier from the work environment. Because of globalization, interdependence of cultural and economic activities has increased trade, investment, migration and transmission of knowledge to different destinations (Mena & Illarramendi, 2001, p. 67). Most importantly, it has forged a united front towards addressing world problems including terror attack and climate change. Apart from globalization, global information system (GIS) is a clear-cut sharing strategy that has made information available from different platforms. It is a core current policy and global coverage technique mainly used by government to gather intelligence. Notably, it is not available to governmental subscribers for reasons ranging from security to financial implications. Global information systems Among the many beneficiaries of the global information systems, the pipeline and aviation industry has substantially transformed due to invention of GIS. With the already available solutions and software, the pipeline industry has been able to monitor the flow of different fluids, detect leaks and communicate efficiently. In the modern world, it is very rare to find accidents in the pipeline industry because of global information system. On the same note, the aviation sector has benefited by formulating Global positioning systems that allow monitoring of planes. Additionally, GIS has made navigation easy around the world. Most importantly, it has aroused quality data management, organization of personal information, document engineering and web interaction across diverse platforms. The implementation of information system in any firm requires substantial financial investment. Most importantly, the processes, structure, and policies are necessary for managerial purposes. Certainly, this is because Information system, has contributed towards a reality, by ensuring that the implementation of efficient communication. Information system issues From the perspective of international relation where economic, cultural and political systems are being incorporated, connectedness is mandatory. In this respect, many has been done towards improving interaction among different countries and the globe at large. It has lead to economic growth of most countries coordinated through provision of the entire necessary requirement. Availability of internet and communication gadgets has implementation easier. On the other hand, globalization faces a number of challenges from different sectors. These challenges pose an enormous problem for global development as they attempt to reinstate the traditional status quo. Information system constitutes all the major activities being incorporated in a given organization to make sure that all the manuals of the organization are running as anticipated. There are various challenges towards effective implementation of information systems including but not limited to; Language barrier Language barrier is a major challenge, which has hampered implementation of global information systems. Many nations have illiterate people non-cognisant with technological advancement. Additionally, most people are not conversant with some languages of information system thus making it a significant issue in trying to understand different cultural dimensions across the globe. Subsequently, lack of adequate information technology infrastructures to teach people on the information systems have also contributed to the barrier. In addition, cultural differences also form a contributing factor whereby the use some particular colors, body language, and hand gestures have failed the spread of information system. Notably, people with diverse backgrounds believe that it is the contamination of their culture. Developing legal aspects and procedures is necessary to ensure that a firm remains relevant even when facing a problem. Monitoring of operations and essential areas is also vital. Regulations, ethical and social issues in information system Different countries have diverse laws thus in some countries some rules can slow down globalization. Additionally, government interference may erect barriers that are to prevent entrance of internet activities as exhibited in Korea, related to misinforming people. They may also erect obstacles to regulation of imports in order to protect the local farmers who are practicing farming as their primary source of income (Salehnia, 2002, p. 27). Implementing global information system in most firms increases networks for subsidiaries. Information system has become one of the most used systems in coordinating different firms around the globe because of its effectiveness. However, in some countries not having the correct information system technology it, it becomes a expensive since the people concerned with firms have to move around those countries to reach their clients which is going to comprise a lot of travellings, which is too expensive. Investing in technology requires high involvement. Various aspects have been put in place to make sure that this system will work efficiently by designing various software tools. The main complexity of implementing information system (IS), nonetheless, varies in different countries. Implementation has also been affected by the different cultures, legal environment, and vendor support the people in those areas are either unwilling to partake or they fear the technology is going to interfere with their cultural beliefs and norms (Lan, 2005 p. 137). During the implementation, it is crucial for the managers and the management at large to know that there are some hurdles to the implementation of the information (IS). From this perspective, stakeholders should always be ready to deal with those hurdles as soon as they arise, without proper preparations in solving the matters, before crippling the whole system. Economic and political differences Everts (1993) notes that economic intervention and innovation increases integrations around the world through communication. The global market contributes to efficiency through competition from other firms. It allows goods and services to be imported to different countries hence limiting monopoly of any firm to dictate the market of products and services. On the other hand, political interference to some extent has caused a decline in globalization especially in area where those people concerned after individual benefits. Openness will increase economic growth by a lot of people are involved either directly or indirectly in making globalization a success, whereby people are employed thus contributing to economic empowerment of a given country. Human errors in information handling Understanding information system has been a major challenge for different people. The entire field requires the use of certain terms and orders that mean differently. Without adequate knowledge to understand these differences, it becomes difficult to merge and get anything out of the message. In this light, it is imperative to understand and different systems and how they operate. Late reporting contributes to negative globalization; it tries to slow down the effective running of the system when the concerned parties start to blame the firms on late delivery of the equipment (Avgerou, 2002, p. 112). Organizations and firms embracing globalization must show and act in a responsible manner. The action should include the clients as well as those people they are partnering with as well as the vendors at large. All the concerned parties must come to consensus on various issues like safety of the people undertaking the various activities allocated to them. Most importantly, firms have to listen to complaints and issues from their clients since they are affected directly whenever anything arises. The firms have to have a good reputation with the surrounding people around them. The managers should monitor the national and international legal aspects, social aspects, ethical aspects and the consequences that they have on the affected areas. Summary The discovery and promotion of information system are vital; however, it is bound to fail without succinct address of different challenges. Therefore, information management is essential. It is critical to come up with the right people and equipments towards realization of the visions of the firms and organizations (Apte, 1990, p. 291). In order to have effective working system managers must come up with the various strategies capable of effective running and management of information system. Additionally, there must be a real communication channel followed when dealing with the various aspects of different types of organizations and firms. Notably, this prevents duplication as well as confusion. Communication among the people entitled to different positions is also necessary. It brings in context, the various issues that might arise internally or from the outside environment. Monitoring is also important in ensuring that all the systems incorporated are working as required to suit the consumers. This promotes rectification of any anomaly as early as possible before worsening, thus creating a bad image of the firm and the organization to a greater extent. According to Yu and Gong (2012), decision-making has to be implemented based on consultations from the stakeholders. No individual decisions should be made or passed without clarification from important people. Subsequently, decision has to do with affirmative consultations from almost the whole panel of management. This is to enhance the effectiveness. Presentation of the information after analyzing various issues on the firms and decisions have be met the outcome has to be communicated to the people concerned and legal actions should be taken towards improving the welfare of the population and the surrounding and the firm at large. Management of firms has to be done by dedicated people who devote their time towards achieving the dreams and visions of various companies and organizations .persistence has to be maintained especially when it come to implementation of the policies of the firm (Gunasekaran, 2009, p. 208). Subsequently, delegation of duties is essential since no person can work in all sections of a firm, thus for effective running of enterprises and organizations different people have to assign in various fields to running the different aspects of work that are found in that particular area. They should channel all the grievances they are facing to the higher authorities so that appropriate actions and measures are done. It also came to my attention that consultation from other firms is vital because it builds capacity. Sensitization and consistent interaction with different stakeholders play a significant role in streamlining information development. Proper management of information systems ensure that the solutions are workable as they guide the stakeholders in the appropriate decisions to make. Consequently, they aid in making informed decision whenever a crisis arises through consultations. Analysing all the possible results that are being presented make it effective for running the firms smoothly. Existing information system does offer no explanation for various variations of the implementation of the system but with the current systems in technology a lot will be achieved towards achieving the best integrations of information system, globalization has greatly affected information system in implementation of policies towards enhancing technology. Last but importantly, information system stakeholders must accommodate other non-English speaking countries to promote efficient globalization.
