“I Can’t Breathe” –Eric Garner Viewing the video indicates the extent of police brutality and excessive use of force on people suspected of crime. The Code of Ethics and Conduct that govern police officers require that they exercise general responsibility when interacting with suspects. It means that police officers should not subject harm to suspects no matter the degree of crime. In the Eric Garner’s video, the police officers failed to withhold the code of general responsibility and ended up killing the alleged suspect.

Eric may be faulted for not heeding to the instructions from the police officer. However, the manner in which the officer attacked him was a violation of the human rights. The police officer used a chokehold to bring Eric to a position that he could be handcuffed. The chokehold seemed to have suffocated Eric, and he succumbed to suffocation. There is no possible explanation that can set the officer free from his actions. The move was unwise and a violation of the human rights and the code of ethics and conduct.

Rodney King Beating Similar to Eric Garner’s case, the video on Rodney King’s death illustrates how police officers ignored their duty to uphold general responsibility towards suspects. The video indicates police officers roughing up Rodney. The worst part is that Rodney did not use any force or resist arrest. He was powerless and helpless. The police officers took the law in their hands. Their inhumane action was governed by personal issues rather than professionalism.“Do the Right Thing” Radio Raheem’s Death Unlike the Garner situation, the police find Raheem in a brawl.

He resists arrest, and the police officer decides to put him down by choking him. The video, an excerpt from the movie “Do the Right Thing, 1989” Radio Raheem, a fictional character, is held in a chokehold. The video indicates the manner in which police use brutal force to maintain a suspect who resists arrest. However, the police office ends up being a liable for murder due to neglecting the code of ethics and conduct in his line of duty.Work CitedYouTube. YouTube. Web. 6 Feb. 2015. .
