In regard to education boot camps, secondary information is necessary to provide insight into the nature of these gifted education programs. It was also imperative to collect information on these learning platforms, so as to provide insight on what they would constitute since they do not exist within the Czech education system.

Information on the Czech education system was obtained from government sources like reports by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. There were also sources such as organizations’ and foundations’ reports like those by the European Commission and the Czech Institute for Information on Education.

These secondary data sources were deemed credible owing to the impartial nature of their statistical findings on education, and especially gifted education in the country. The sources were also considered the best, as they provided a comprehensive overview of the background information that formed a basis for the research.

Primary Data

Interviews and Academic Justification

The decision to use interviews was aimed at collecting personal opinions from potential education boot camp financiers as research data. Interviews were also considered most suitable since a depth understanding of and insight into the subject of gifted education funding in the Czech Republic was paramount to the study. Through directly interviewing potential sponsors of the proposed education programs, it was possible to directly define the study’s context. Additionally, the use of interviews as primary data collection tools made it possible to discover the thoughts and feelings of the respondents on gifted education in the Czech Republic, while identifying their specific reasons for various opinions (Škrabánková, 2011). It was also imperative to gain a human perspective of extant data and trends of gifted education in the country. There were several advantages of using interviews in the research. Key among the benefits noted was the usefulness of the interviews in obtaining information in detail, particularly in regard to personal opinions, outlooks on gifted education, and overall opinions. The interviews made it possible for one to ask detailed questions, and the response rate was high since the interviewees were purposefully chosen. In addition, the interviewee's exact words were recorded, which implies that information was not altered or tampered with. The direct nature of the interviews made it possible to clarify questions and responses instantly while opening up discussion about the topic even further. This principle research method was, however, not free of weaknesses, albeit few (Strakova, 2007). For instance, they consumed a relatively extensive-time period in terms of question preparation, setting up actual interviews, transcribing while attempting to tailor responses to the different respondents, analyzing, and finally, reporting.

Interview Questions and Rationale

The interview questions utilized sought to address specific research objectives identified in the proposal. For instance, the first question intended to find out the respondents’ opinion on the Czech government’s extent of involvement in gifted education. The latter, in turn, made it possible to identify gaps in the field and justify the need for proposed education boot camps. The second research query questioned interviewees’ interest in sponsoring education boot camps, thus determining whether affluent people in the Czech society would be willing to fund gifted education programs.  After finding out the respondents’ willingness to sponsor the programs, subsequent questions attempted to get the interviewees’ suggestions on how the projected gifted education programs could be designed or the efforts that should be undertaken, in order to increase their confidence and willingness to provide funding. These questions were highly important to ensure the collection of information from the perspective of potential financiers, in regard to program development and maintenance.
