Carrie Rogers, Company President Steve McDonald July 8, Recommendations on the Affordable Care Act The Affordable Care Act is plausible guarantees improved access to affordable insurance covers for many employees. This is likely to reduce the number of uninsured citizens, which translates to a healthier and more productive workforce. This act also gives the poor an opportunity to receive Medicaid. Insurance companies also have a responsibility to provide coverage for all citizens indiscriminately, whether they are sick or not.
With effective implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the nation is bound to spend less on healthcare.Despite its benefits, this Act has some negative effects on the workforce, the employers, and the nation in general. Some companies may opt to lay off some of the workers in order to evade providing their health cover. There is also a high probability that employers will incur additional costs for their employees’ insurance. This may arise because insurance companies have to cover everybody including the sick.
They may therefore increase the general insurance costs for health cover, in order to cater for the high risk of loss. Our company, therefore, needs to create well-thought strategies to meet the mandates of this Act and retain the much needed part-time workers, while concurrently ensuring that they dont bear unneeded costs. For instance, the company can offer a fixed amount of money to employees, to cater for specific drugs or procedures. This amount is a form of incentive that prompts the employees to look for the best price when making any purchases.
Additionally, since the company needs the part-time workers, offering minimal coverage would help to retain them, and even improve their productivity. Moreover, the company should implement the disciplinary acts that the Act allows for such as surcharges to smokers, to avoid incurring avoidable costs. Work CitedCohen, G.
